IRON MAN 3
Don Cheadle spoke with Collider about his upcoming Marvel appearances. “Well the ‘Iron Man 3’ is coming back. We’ll probably do that again in February and there’s talk of a ‘War Machine’ spinoff, which I guess, unless I get recast, I would probably do,” he said. Asked if he will appear in “The Avengers,” the actor answered, “I have a contract to be in ‘The Avengers’ but I’m glad they haven’t exercised that option yet. I need some down time.”
Release Date: May 3rd, 2013
THE CROW (BEGINS)
According to Superhero Hype, “Watchmen” screenwriter Alex Tse will script the new film, which is being described as a “gritty reboot of the gothic iconic character Eric Draven.” Bradley Cooper is still attached to play Draven.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
Anne Hathaway briefly discusses accepting a catsuit with the Swedish website Nojes Bladet (Comic Book Movie provides the translation). Asked about the previous Catwomen in film and TV history, she said, “It makes you work harder, I take a chance not that something may work. But there is a certain satisfaction in that, towards the end of the day [I] did everything.”
Release date: July 20th, 2012
As Spinoff Online reported yesterday, there will be no “Avengers” panel in Hall H at Comic-Con. “Of course, that’s not to say Marvel Studios won’t have a presence at the convention, being held July 21-24 in San Diego,” they write. “There’s the massive booth on the exhibition floor, which last year drew attention with the recreation of Odin’s throne room from ‘Thor.’ There’s also the suggestion of an off-site event, likely tied to ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.'”
Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012
The Hollywood Reporter offers Warner Bros a few tips on how to prevent the pile-up that was “Green Lantern” from occurring again. One point really sticks out to me as key: “Readers connect with comic books through original stories by writers and artists: For ‘Green Lantern,’ it could be stories from the 1970s, by Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams or, more recently, by Geoff Johns. These people offer a vision and direction. The same rule applies to movies. When you watch Christopher Nolan’s recent Batman movies, or even this summer’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ or ‘Thor,’ you feel like there is a singular vision behind them.” I think that really gets to the heart of the issue. There were a lot of creative folks involved pulling the film in different directions. The article also suggests giving DC more autonomy to develop films and to stay away from Marvel’s “Avengers” plan. Here’s my pitch: just make a ‘Justice League’ movie. Dive in with both feet and don’t worry about the audience knowing the characters’ various origins. It would actually be a revolutionary act and, in some some cases, a better introduction to the characters than their own origin movie.
Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: out now.
THE LONE RANGER
Variety reports that actor Tom Wilkinson, who played crime boss Falcone in “Batman Begins” is in early talks to appear as a “railroad tycoon in the Old West who plays a prominent role.” I guess that makes him the villain?
Release date: December 21st, 2012
RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
The Sun has the UK trailer for the film:
I’m cautious about this one. It looks like it could be good, but “Planet of the Apes” has let me down before.
Release date: June 24th, 2011
So I happened to make my way into a screening of “Cars 2” last night and I have to say it wasn’t my favorite Pixar film; which remains a toss-up between “WALL-E” and “The Incredibles.” The “Cars” sequel was just a very loud affair with obnoxious, thin characters and very little charm. That said, it had one clever idea in an organization of “Lemons” made up of notorious vehicles like the AMC Pacer and the Yugo. Other than that, “Cars 2” just sort of spins on its wheels (oh, the puns). It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think the movie lacked the Pixar magic. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of a third “Cars” film.
