Film concept artist Phil Saunders shared unused concept art for Tony Stark's Hammerhead suit from Iron Man 3 on social media.

Saunders posted the never-before-seen concept art on Instagram. He explained, "Started life as a sketch for the first Iron Man movie when producer Avi Arad requested suit designs for a hall of armor end scene, presumably to boost toy sales. Glad to have gotten to breathe new life into it for the House Party Protocol."

Where the final design used in the film was relatively bulky and box-like, the art shows a more streamlined, sleeker version of the suit. Additionally, the suit's gray and navy blue color scheme is also more evenly distributed throughout the design. The final image shows what the fully-lit suit would have looked like in an underwater scene.

Worth noting is the fact that 2008's Iron Man originally had a final scene planned that would have showcased a variety of Iron Man suits. Ultimately, only a handful of designs ever appeared in the film. It was not until Iron Man 3 that a wider range of Tony Stark's designs was unveiled.

Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. It is now available on Blu-ray, Digital, and 4K Ultra HD.
