One week after the premiere of Season 2 of Iron Fist and fans are already wondering about the possibility of a third season, especially after this season's cliffhanger ending.
Head of Marvel Television and Iron Fist executive producer Jeph Loeb revealed that the renewal for a new season of the Marvel Netflix series is ultimately up to the premium streaming service.
"Unlike the movie studio, which can announce a Captain Marvel movie will be out in 2019, the television studio will always be beholden to our networks, and so if our networks want another season of Iron Fist, we’re ready to go," explained Loeb in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "We’re just waiting for the answer. The show’s been out of a week."
This confirms earlier comments by Loeb during a Reddit AMA this past June with the television exec revealing that Netflix had the final say on the future of all its original Marvel programming. Loeb also acknowledged that the decision for Season 3 of Daredevil to premiere so relatively soon after the second season of Iron Fist was also a choice made by Netflix.
"Again, that would be a Netflix question," responded Loeb when asked about the Daredevil premiere date. "We’re just delighted to have the show come out."
Out now on Netflix, Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 2 stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Sacha Dhawan as Davos, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Alice Eve as Mary Walker.
