Finn Jones, who starred on the Netflix Marvel series Iron Fist, wants another chance at playing the character.

During an interview on Geekscape, the topic of Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock from Daredevil was brought up and Jones was asked if he'd also want to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Iron Fist. "I'd love another chance," he said. "I care about Danny Rand deeply, I believe in that character, I think there's a lot of work to be done. There's something about the underdog, y'know? I love the underdog narrative. I love the ability to prove someone wrong, and I want to prove all those motherfuckers wrong. I know I have it in me and I know I can give the Danny Rand performance that fans want and that is possible."

Premiering in 2017, Iron Fist was the fourth series in Netflix's live-action Marvel continuity. It followed Danny Rand (Jones), the scion of a wealthy corporation who returns to New York after disappearing fifteen years prior. Over the course of the show, it's revealed that Danny spent his time away in the mystic city of K'un-Lun, mastering martial arts and gaining the powers of the Iron Fist, and that he's returned to battle the clandestine forces that plotted his parents' murder and took over their company. The series' first season was met with negative reviews for its story, action sequences and Jones' performance in the lead role. Yet, Jones returned for the crossover series The Defenders and a second season of Iron Fist, both of which were more positively received, before the cancelation of all Netflix's Marvel shows.

How Will Iron Fist Hit the MCU?

As for what form Danny Rand's return would take, Jones offered his ideas. "I think it would be really cool to see a Heroes for Hire series. That's the way to bring it back," he explained. "But then also have Colleen [Wing, played by Jessica Henwick] come back and for Colleen to still be the Iron Fist...Colleen Iron Fist should be fucking A1 movies, you know? She deserves that, and she's great for doing that. And I would love to see her show up in something like that and then to have Danny and Luke [Cage, played by Mike Colter] on their own series and then over the course of seasons of television and films, you see those characters come together again in a dynamic and real way."

However, while the introduced MCU presence of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home and this past summer's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series seemingly suggests a connection to the long-nixed Netflix shows, it might end up representing a reset. Indeed, while there was a conceit of connectivity to the MCU during the time of those shows (notably represented by the occasional Easter egg), the version of Iron Fist -- played by Jones or not -- in the Disney-delivered MCU continuity could represent an entirely new iteration, given the show's poor reception.

Currently, the cast of Daredevil remain the only Marvel Netflix stars with a confirmed future in the MCU. After appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, Cox will play Murdock again in Echo before headlining Daredevil: Born Again, which has an 18-episode order and is set to premiere in early 2024 on Disney+. Additionally, Vincent D'Onofrio already returned as the criminal mastermind Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the 2021 series Hawkeye and is set to face off against Cox in both Echo and Born Again, and is set to voice the character in the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
