WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Invincible Season 1, Episode 8, "Where I Really Come From," available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon's animated adaptation of Invincible has wrapped its first season with a decidedly bloody bang as Invincible faced off against his father Omni-Man in a brutal showdown that resulted in thousands of lives lost in the crossfire as both characters' destructive potential was put on full display. And while the fight against Omni-Man may be done for now, the season finale leaves plenty of directions for future seasons to go next, with Amazon officially renewing the series for two additional seasons to continue the widely acclaimed comic book story.

In the wake of Omni-Man revealing he was sent to Earth to conquer the planet for the Viltrumite Empire, Mark Grayson is at a personal crossroads deciding if he wants to continue his superhero career after learning the truth about his father. Global Defense Agency Director Cecil Stedman has expressed an interest in working with Invincible, as he believes him to be humanity's only hope against a potential Viltrumite invasion; this could set up Mark playing a more direct role working alongside the GDA and new Guardians of the Globe when he inevitably resumes his superhero aspirations. And with the Coalition of Planets revealing they are similarly working against the Viltrumites across the cosmos, humanity may get some interstellar help in defending themselves while Invincible's commitments against the Viltrumites may extend beyond Earth.

And the GDA is developing their strategies outside of just betting everything on Invincible saving them: Cecil continues to work with D.A. Sinclair towards creating an army of cybernetically engineered monsters; more numerous than the squad that attacked Omni-Man. The Guardians are finally working together as a team, with Atom Eve back in the fold, working as a cohesive unit to assist with the relief efforts from Invincible and Omni-Man's devastating fight in Chicago. And as the GDA works towards resurrecting the Immortal again, after his second death at the hands of Omni-Man, the Mauler Twins are taken back into custody, under watch from the same prison guard they attacked to escape.

And Invincible is going to have more than just the Viltrumites to worry about moving forward. After usurping Machine Head to become a powerful crime lord in his own right, Titan is continuing to expand upon his newly acquired syndicate's power base in the criminal underworld. The mad scientist supervillain Doc Seismic survived his own earlier encounter with Invincible, now commanding an army of magma-based monsters below the planet's surface and poised to strike. The Sequids that Invincible encountered on Mars are now on the loose again, potentially setting the stage for their own invasion of Earth. And despite being nearly eradicated completely by Omni-Man, the Flaxans have rebuilt their civilization in their parallel dimension, now vowing revenge against both the violent Viltrumite and Earth itself.

Earth and Invincible have survived Omni-Man's Viltrumite rampage but the planet is far from safe. Omni-Man remains on the loose in unknown regions of the cosmos, now wanted by the very empire he dedicated his life to serve. And as the world rebuilds and attempts to prepare for the next threat from beyond the stars, Mark Grayson has acquired a whole host of allies and enemies that are sure to aid and menace him when Invincible eventually returns for its second season.

Invincible stars Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton, Grey Griffin and Max Burkholder.
