Invincible's creators have recently released a teaser trailer for Season 2, with audiences eager to find out about the next season. While fans might have expected the norm for a teaser, Invincible's was something else entirely. It was a joke. In a meta, fourth-wall-breaking moment, the Invincible Season 2 teaser answers the fan base's most frequently asked question, and it is not what they were expecting.

The first season was released on March 25, 2021, instantly receiving both critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. Following the series finale, it continued to be talked about on message boards and comments sections, with many fans tweeting the series creators with their questions. Aside from Invincible's creators offering shares to fans or its iconic memes, one question has proven the most important to fans. It is a question so important to the community that it has been asked again and again. When will the next season be released?

Invincible's Teaser Answers the Question as a Joke

The entirety of the Season 2 teaser is, in essence, a joke. The teaser features a conversation between Mark and Allen the Alien, who sit eating in Burger Mart. In a fourth-wall-breaking moment, Allen questions how long it will be until he sees Invincible again, and Mark goes on to explain the efforts he has gone through in order to bring back one of the best animated shows on Amazon Prime. The moment is an obvious reference to the hard work that series creators have put into the next season, even featuring snippets of the editing and animation processes for the teaser itself.

While firmly coming at fans with its tongue in its cheek, the Invincible Season 2 teaser does actually answer the question. At the end of the short clip, the teaser reveals that the next season will be coming in "late 2023." While this is vague at best, it does somewhat satisfy viewers, letting them know the details for Invincible Season 2 are imminent. The first season was green-lit in June 2018, only to be released three years later. Season 2 seems to more or less align with this time frame.

Invincible's Teaser Might Hide a Deeper Meaning

The teaser also reveals a few Easter eggs for the more dedicated fans. If one were to theorize on the non-meta meaning of Mark's conversation in the diner, he could be referencing the changes he has needed to make. While Homelander is scarier than Omni-Man, the latter has devastated the public. The bit of script that flashes across the screen during the teaser contains a snippet of a conversation about trust between The Immortal and Mark. While only a snippet, it could be a subtle reference to the future of the series, as Mark attempts to regain the trust of his comrades.

While Invincible Season 2's teaser trailer was not at all what fans expected, it did answer their most asked question. In a meta, fourth-wall-breaking joke between Mark and Allen the Alien, the Invincible creators explain that they have carefully been making Season 2 and that it will be coming in "late 2023." Though vague, it does answer the Invincible audience's biggest request, even if it is as a joke.
