Erik Larsen is open to Savage Dragon making an appearance on Invinicble -- if certain hurdles can be cleared.

The creator responded to fans noting that his green-skinned creation hasn't appeared in the animated series yet during a discussion in the Erik Larsen Fans group on Facebook. "It's never come up. They didn't ask to use the character," Larsen said. When asked if he would let Dragon appear on the series if asked, Larsen replied, "If it wasn't onerous, sure."

Invincible co-creator/executive producer Robert Kirkman had previously discussed the "tedious and difficult" process of getting other Image Comics characters to appear on the show, ultimately deciding not to do any crossovers at all.  "I think that is kind of the magic of comics... In comics, I can call up Erik Larsen and say 'Are you cool if Savage Dragon shows up?' And he's like, 'Yeah, great!'" Kirkman said.

Savage Dragon was one of the few established Image Comics creations to show up in the pages of Invincible, playing a role in "The Invincible War" storyline which saw him and other Image Comics heroes battle evil alternate versions of Mark Grayson. The character is no stranger to animation, having starred in his own animated series in 1995. With Invincible having been renewed for two more seasons, the animated future of Savage Dragon remains up in the air.

Invincible stars Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton, Grey Griffin and Max Burkholder. The series is produced by Skybound, and executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Simon Racioppa, David Alpert and Catherine Winder. New episodes premiere Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
