"I will say we are very close to getting a lot of updates on the Invincible series. We're very hard at work at it... unfortunately animated series take a fair amount of time to work on, but I've watched some episodes. It's all turning out really great." Kirkman told Fandom during a video interview.

The animated series was first announced in 2018 as part of a lucrative deal between Skybound and Amazon Studios. Created by Kirkman and Cory Walker, Invincible follows high school student Mark Grayson, who is the son of the world's greatest hero Omni-Man. When Mark discovers he has his father's powers, he steps into the family business of superheroism. Invincible gained a fan following for its subversion of superhero tropes and saw multiple spinoff series including The Astounding Wolf-Man.

An adaptation of the Skybound Entertainment superhero comic of the same name, Invincible is developed for television by Simon Racciopa, who serves as the animated series' showrunner with Kirkman executive producing. The series stars Steven Yeun, Mark Hamill, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin and Max Burkholder. It is expected to premiere later this year on Amazon.
