WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the sixth episode of Invincible, "You Look Kinda Dead," streaming now on Amazon Prime.

Mark Grayson's journey in the Invincible television series has been way more traumatic thus far than in the comics. The recent beating he took at the hands of Battle Beast -- one that also put some of the new Guardians of the Globe in hospital -- left him really pondering his destiny, realizing that despite his powers, he is mortal, after all.

This causes him to take his girlfriend, Amber, on a road trip, but as they head on a college tour, all is interrupted by a sort of Cyber-Frankenstein.

Mark wants to spend time with Amber to show he's serious about their future, aiming to make up for his superhero duty cutting into their dating life. Amber almost broke up with him when he went missing after the Battle Beast fight but luckily Eve covered for him. Now, they're at Upstate University, checking out the pre-med program with Mark's best friend, Will, who really wants to spend time with his own crush, Rick.

While sitting in on a biology class, they encounter an obnoxious student named D.A. Sinclair (voiced by Ezra Miller), who makes it clear that he's got better theories on the future of mankind. It's why the twisted genius has secretly been kidnapping students and turning them into cyborgs. He maims, operates and then places neural implants into them because, according to Sinclair, this is the only way to engineer a solution for humanity's failures.

It gets intense when his first bot attacks the quadrangle, causing Mark to have to suit up as Invincible. Shockingly, the cyborg catches his own reflection in the water and impales himself, horrified over what he's become. This leads to Sinclair wanting to upgrade his soldiers, eyeing Rick as someone he thinks is the perfect specimen and ultimate alpha male.

It comes to a head when Will tries to find Rick, only to get kidnapped himself. Luckily, he called Mark at a frat party just as he got abducted, causing Invincible to suit up and find the lair through a hole in the quad. There, more cyborgs attack, but thankfully, as Mark gets overpowered, Will's able to appeal to Rick's humanity and their romantic feelings for each other. It's the catalyst for Rick to unplug his mental implant and help Mark out, leading to a brutal brawl where the two team up and pull out the implants from the others.

As for the fleeing Sinclair, his tenure as a Dr. Frankenstein-esque creator of monsters ends with a broken jaw as the guys make sure not to kill him, but to leave him with a bit of karmic revenge. Cecil arrives with the Global Defense Agency to mop the scene up, impressed with what Sinclair achieved, but grateful that Mark's alive after the recent near-miss.

Invincible stars Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin and Max Burkholder. The series is produced by Skybound, and executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Simon Racioppa, David Alpert and Catherine Winder. New episodes are released Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
