The first trailer for the Amazon Prime Video's upcoming animated adaptation of Invincible was recently revealed by series co-creator Robert Kirkman, and fans were relieved to see that the mature content of the original comic was present in the quick sneak peek that teased some of the series' graphic fight scenes.
However, the comic series featured quite a few graphic and sometimes shocking moments that never would have made it into mainstream comics, which could mean that even though the trailer featured teases of bloody battles, the following moments from the comic might still prove to be a bit too much for the upcoming Amazon series. Possible spoilers for the comic series ahead.
9 Death(s) Of Angstrom Levy
One of Mark Grayson/Invincible's most dangerous and recurring villains is the dimensional teleporter known as Angstrom Levy, whose misguided mission of revenge set him on a dark path that threatened Invincible and his family.
After Angstrom Levy had stranded Invincible in an alternate universe and hurt his defenseless mother, Mark was overtaken by his alien Viltrumite rage. He pulled Levy into another dimension with him and proceeded to bash his head in. Levy would find a way to survive and later return a number of times for an ultimately even more brutal death.
8 Invincible War
After Angstrom Levy recovered from his first "death" at the hands of Invincible, he decided to fight fire with fire by gathering over a dozen Invincibles from alternate realities that he used to attack the cities of Earth.
While there were a few violent and gory deaths during the Invincible War (which ended with the first appearance of Conquest), that's not the main reason the event likely won't be seen in the Amazon series. The problem lies with the various Image superheroes that were involved like Spawn and Savage Dragon whose own rights make their appearance unlikely.
7 The Viltrumite War
Mark Grayson's origins as a Viltrumite/Human hybrid factored heavily into the series as he was forced to fight against his own people, an incredibly powerful race of conquerors, during "The Viltrumite War" storyline which is sure to eventually make its way to the animated adaptation.
There were a number of violent battles between the allied forces of the Coalition of Planets and the powerful Viltrumite army that left bodies torn apart on the battlefield. One of the goriest was between Invincible and Conquest, who was ultimately strangled by Grayson as Conquest broke his body and disemboweled him.
6 Bulletproof's Secret
The Invincible comic series introduced a number of heroes alongside Mark Grayson that included Zandale Randolph/Bulletproof, who took over as Invincible for a bit in the comics despite a dark secret that shocked readers and began to taint his time as a hero.
Zandale's evil twin brother died during the twisted experiment that gave Bulletproof his abilities, but Zandale's parents didn't believe him when he told them. The argument escalated dramatically, leading to their violent deaths at the hands of Bulletproof and his girlfriend which they then covered up.
5 Cannibal Invincibles
Angstrom Levy's gang of alternate reality Invincibles weren't all defeated during "The Invincible War," as a number of them refused to follow Levy's orders and were transported & abandoned in a barren alternate dimension. This would lead to one of the most disturbing moments in the Invincible comic series.
They were rediscovered by Grayson after a later battle with Levy caused him to be stranded in that dimension himself. He found a lone and insane Invincible who revealed that they had resorted to cannibalism after being stranded, and he attempted to make the mainstream Grayson his next meal.
4 Robot's Superhero Massacre
Robot was the leader of the Teen Team before he was promoted to the Guardians of the Globe and eventual coordinator behind Earth's Global Defense Agency who is set to appear in the upcoming animated series, voiced by Zachary Quinto.
Unfortunately, Robot went to extreme measures to completely take over the Global Defense Agency in order to protect Earth, which caused him to quickly and bloodily massacre Earth's superhero population so they wouldn't fight his takeover. He proved his dedication when he ripped the leg off of a pregnant Atom Eve to make his point.
3 Battle Beast Vs. General Thragg
There weren't many characters introduced in Invincible that could match Grayson or the other Viltrumites' strength, but the ferocious alien known as Battle Beast dedicated his life to proving he was their equal in battle.
This led him to an epic but bloody battle with General Thragg, who was the former leader of the Viltrum Empire as he was the most powerful of his kind. Their battle devastated the planet it was on and lasted for days, with each combatant suffering greatly until Thragg was ultimately victorious, claiming Battle Beast's pelt as his trophy.
2 Death Of Mark And Eve
Thragg would continue to threaten the universe after he began to rebuild his forces by repeatedly mating with Thraxans, an alien species that aged incredibly fast, giving him an army of superpowered teenagers.
Thragg would take a few of his best children with him to attack Invincible and Atom Eve while they were defenseless on a picnic with their daughter Terra. Invincible was ripped in half by Thragg while Eve was nearly killed. Thankfully, Eve's powers kicked into overdrive and rebuilt her and Invincible's bodies, saving them from the brink of death.
1 Thraxan-Viltrumite Massacre
One of the final battles of the Image Comics' series featured Invincible and the new Viltrum Empire & the Coalition of Planets as they faced off against General Thragg and his army of Thraxan-Viltrumite children & teenagers in a final battle.
Unfortunately, the Thraxan-Viltrumite army wasn't as strong as the full-blooded Viltrumites or Invincible and proved to be little more than cannon fodder for General Thragg. The battle quickly became a bloodbath as hundreds of teenaged Thraxan-Viltrumites were obliterated simply by flying full-force into their more powerful opponents.
