Robert Kirkman and Amazon Prime, also home to the The Boys adaptation, debuted the first trailer for the upcoming Invincible animated series at New York Comic-Con, which will adapt the successful Image Comics series of the same name. Invincible gave superhero comics a much-needed refresh, and fans have been waiting with anticipation for the animated series after it was announced in 2018.

The first trailer for Invincible teased a few of the main characters, but fans were left with only a glimpse at a few other heroes and villains that will appear in the upcoming animated series which was just enough to get a good idea of how the cartoon characters will compare to the original comic versions in Amazon Prime's upcoming animated series.

10 Mark Grayson/Invincible

The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun was given the opportunity to bring life to another Kirkman character when he was cast as the voice of Mark Grayson/Invincible, a teenager who follows in his superhero father's footsteps when his inherited powers finally manifest.

The animated version of Invincible features the same costume from the comics, though it does feature the simplified boot design that the comic character later switched to instead of his original debut costume, which featured a cut-out on the kneepad.

9 Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man

Invincible Nolan Grayson Omni Man

Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man is one of the planet's greatest superheroes and the father of Invincible who is an alien Viltrumite sent to Earth on a special mission, and he will be voiced by J.K. Simmons in the upcoming adult animated series.

While Omni-Man doesn't appear in his superhero costume in the first Invincible trailer, he is still present in his Viltrumite uniform and civilian clothes alongside Mark and the revealed character designs for the series confirm that his costume will be the same as the one that appeared in the Image Comics' series.

8 Amber Bennett

While most of Invincible's cast of characters seem to have been ripped straight from the pages of the comics, there are a few characters who have been altered for the animated series, like Mark's high school girlfriend Amber Bennett.

Amber Bennett will be voiced by Zazie Beets, and it's likely the character's race was changed to better represent the voice actor. Amber has been featured prominently in some of the released promotional material for the series, including the Free Comic Book Day issue of Invincible that teased some of the characters' new designs.

7 Atom Eve

Samantha Eve Wilkins is the superpowered Atom Eve, a high school classmate of Mark's and one of Invincible's first superpowered allies as well as a member of the Teen Team that will introduce a few other characters to the animated series.

Atom Eve will be voiced by Gillian Jacobs, and the character's adapted look is very similar to her comic appearance with a few small changes. The bottom of her costume has been extended into shorts while the lines of her costume have been straightened and her logo simplified slightly.

6 Rex Splode

Invincible rex splode

Rex Splode is a powerful member of the Teen Team and boyfriend of Atom Eve who is able to charge objects with energy that causes them to explode, and he will be voiced by the hilarious Jason Mantzoukas.

Rex Splode's race has also been altered to better represent the voice actor, while the costume has received some further detailing and highlights to his outfit as well as modified goggles that will allow his eyes to be seen by the viewers.

5 Robot

Invincible robot

Zachary Quinto will be voicing the aptly-named Robot, the brilliant and tactical albeit cold leader of the Teen Team who becomes a close ally of Invincible and the other young heroes that are set to appear in the animated series.

While Robot didn't make an appearance in the first trailer of Invincible that was released, he did appear in the character designs and FCBD issue of Invincible, which revealed that the character has retained his original comic appearance.

4 Killcannon

Die-hard fans of Invincible might have been a little shocked to see the appearance of a D-lister like Killcannon in the animated series, though there isn't really a better character in Image's superhero universe to take a beating for the trailer.

Killcannon is technically Atom Eve's nemesis, though he's faced Invincible a couple of times with his powerfully destructive hand cannon, though the animated version of the character has been given a technological upgrade for the series that fans can't wait to see in action.

3 D.A. Sinclair

While fans join Mark Grayson and his adventures as Invincible during his time in high school, the character soon heads to college and encounters his brilliant, arrogant, and demented classmate D.A. Sinclair, who makes a blink and you'll miss it appearance in the trailer.

Sinclair is responsible for the creation of the monstrous Reanimen that leads to a very violent encounter with Invincible that was pretty faithfully adapted for the gory trailer. The mad scientist Sinclair shares a similar fashion sense as his comic counterpart, and fans can expect to see much more of the character.

2 Flaxans

The first trailer for Invincible featured Mark Grayson as he tore through a number of villains very quickly, which included a few members of the mysterious alien race known as the Flaxans who don't fare too well against Invincible.

The Flaxan Empire is a recurring threat to Invincible and his allies in the comics who come from another dimension that frequently launch full-scale high-tech invasions. The Flaxans that appear in the trailer are similar in appearance to their comic counterparts, though they only show up briefly during the quick fight scenes.

1 Monster Girl

The trailer ended with the revealing transformation of Amanda/Monster Girl, a woman who was cursed with a monstrous form that also reverses her age further with each transformation, resulting in her youthful appearance.

Grey Griffin will voice Amanda while Kevin Michael Richardson will take over for her Monster Girl form, and the animated version that briefly appears in the trailer for the Amazon series seems to be taken straight from the source material.
