Apple TV+ released a full-length trailer for the upcoming sci-fi series Invasion.

The trailer begins by exploring various, seemingly unconnected catastrophes across the globe, from widescale power outages to widespread destruction. As it turns out, these events might not be so unrelated after all but rather byproducts of an alien invasion.

Created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil, Invasion was ordered by Apple in 2019. Kinberg and Weil also serve as writers and executive producers, along with fellow EPs Audrey Chon, Jakob Verbruggen, Amy Kaufman, Andrew Baldwin and Elisa Ellis. The main cast (Sam Neill, Shamier Anderson, Golshifteh Farahani, Firas Nassar, Shioli Kutsuna and Tara Moayedi) was confirmed by August 2020, and filming wrapped in March 2021.

"and... that’s a wrap!" Kutsuna shared on Instagram when principal photography concluded. "one year and five months since we first started in october 2019. the longest and one of the most challenging experiences I’ve ever had. shooting in four countries while dealing with covid was definitely not easy, but after many many discussions, adjustments and cooperation, we finally did it!!! the biggest gratitude and appreciation to all my amazing co-stars and crew members who elevated me and supported me throughout this whole process. what an incredible journey it has been. farewell to painful quarantine sessions and ten hour bleaching sessions and purple shampoos; I definitely will NOT miss you. here’s to an unforgettable experience!"

While Kutsuna's comments suggest the actors enjoyed their time on the set of Invasion, there was drama to be found behind the scenes. Most notably, showrunner Chad Feehan exited the project in September 2019. According to Deadline, Weil was unable to fill the role of showrunner due to other commitments so Feehan was brought in by necessity. Kinberg, meanwhile, also had other commitments and had to step back from directing the pilot, but both he and Weil reportedly had issues with the scripts Feehan oversaw. As Kinberg and Weil's schedules freed up, Feehan was no longer needed.
