When viewers look back to Inuyasha, the most common dilemma is Kagome vs Kikyo. This is an easy pairing to pit against each other as they both have the same love interest. Kagome and Sango are best friends in the series so no one would put them against each other.

Kagome is a fierce girl from the future who easily accepts her role as a "sacred jewel shard finder." Sango is a Demon Slayer set on getting her revenge and saving her brother. Both are strong and amazing characters in their own right, but when it comes to being the best girl of the series, who takes the crown?

10 Sango: A Great Fighter

Sango is unmatched when it comes to her fighting abilities. Trained as a Demon Slayer in her village, Sango was one of the only female fighters. The Demon Slayers are regular humans which makes Sango's fighting skills even more impressive.

Sango also wields the Haraikotsu, a giant boomerang-like weapon. This weapon can take out demons with a single strike. The Haraikotsu is almost the size of Sango and probably weighs more than her. Sango not only uses this while flying mid-air with Kirara, but she has also gotten hit with it and survived.

9 Kagome: Sacred Powers

Being from the current era, Kagome had zero training in anything combat-related. However, that doesn't stop her from being a useful fighter in demon battles. Being Kikyo's reincarnation, Kagome possesses spiritual powers. She can send arrows that have magical abilities. She is also able to surpass many barriers, is immune to illusions or spells, and can sense evil auras.

At the start of the series, Kagome is not the best with a bow and arrow but as the show progresses, she dramatically improves. She is also a quick thinker and can solve problems by thinking outside of the box.

8 Sango: Great Sister

Sango's biggest driving force in the fight against Naraku is her brother Kohaku. Kohaku is Sango's younger brother, but Sango often looks out of him in a motherly nature. Kohaku was very insecure about his Demon Slaying abilities but Sango was always there to encourage him.

Due to a trap set by Naraku, the entire Demon Slayer group is slain at the hands of a possessed Kohaku. Once Sango learns that Kohaku is still alive and under Naraku's control, she stops at nothing to try and get him back, even if it means betraying her current friends.

7 Kagome: Great Friend

While it is Kagome's fault that the Sacred Jewel made a reappearance in the feudal era and she is the one who broke it into shards, she really does not have to stay and help find it. However, her big heart takes over and she agrees to help Inuyasha.

As the show goes on and Kagome learns of how Naraku's actions have hurt Inuyasha, Kikyo, Miroku, Sango, and countless others, this fight with Naraku becomes personal to her. Kagome can easily walk away and return to her world but she decides to stay and fight because she is tired of seeing those she loves hurt.

6 Sango: Maturity

Sango is so headstrong, it can easy to forget that she is just a teenager, not much older than Kagome. At only sixteen years old, Sango is one of the best Demon Slayers from her village, surpassing grown men. She was also a maternal figure to her brother Kohaku, who she is only five years older than.

Sango has to deal with a lot of heavier moral issues, including making a decision to kill her brother in order to save his life. Despite losing her entire family and village, Sango makes the decision to carry on.

5 Kagome: Innocence

Kagome is often considered immature in the series due to her emotional outbursts and issues with Inuyasha. However, what can be seen as immaturity is really a teenager being a teenager. Kagome is only fifteen years old and in a completely different environment, which is more dangerous than where she is from.

Kagome's innocence is not only endearing but makes her character that much more compassionate. Kagome cannot watch someone in danger without wanting to help. She always sees the best in everyone, even when they may not be the "good guy." Her innocence may lead to trouble but it always works out.

4 Sango: Best Sidekick

When Sango joined the crew, she brought along with her the best anime sidekick, Kirara. Kirara is a cat being that has been in Sango's family for decades. She appears as a tiny figure with two tails but can transform into her real form during battle. She can fly, shoot fire, and sense danger.

Her loyalty lies with Sango but the entire group benefits from having Kirara around. Kirara helps Inuyasha practice his Wind Scar, is a companion to Shippo, protects Kagome when everyone is fighting, and even helps Miroku in a sting to attract women. Without Sango, there would be no Kirara.

Kagome normally stays in the feudal era but does try to go home every once in a while. It is hard for her to juggle both her feudal era life and her current time life, as seen every time she returns home. Her friends at school are constantly worried about her and her "illnesses" and her family, especially her brother Sota, misses her.

Kagome is sacrificing a lot by being in the feudal era but she makes the most of it. She uses her trips home to stock up on modern medical supplies to help the team. She also brings food and snacks like ramen, and modern-day technology to make their journey easier.

2 Sango: Rational Lover

Sango and Miroku's relationship often takes a backseat in the story due to the "Inuyasha - Kikyo - Kagome" love triangle. That's mostly due to the fact that it is less dramatic and more of a slow burn. Early on, Sango and Miroku take well to each other and share a lot of intimate moments, fighting side by side together, and they spend a lot of time commenting on Inuyasha and Kagome's relationship.

Sango does not hold back when it comes to putting Miroku's perversion in check and as a result, he respects her a lot for it. Sango gets jealous when Miroku is flirting with other women but does not display this directly.

1 Kagome: Fierce Lover

When it comes to her love life, Kagome may not have it all together. In her current time, her classmate Hojo is always pining over her. Back in the feudal era, Koga falls in love with her and wants to steal her away from Inuyasha. Inuyasha struggles to sort his feelings for Kagome as he is still in love with Kikyo.

Through all this, Kagome remains loyal to her love of Inuyasha. She is understanding that Kikyo came before her and as a result, Inuyasha has complicated feelings. While she may be settling for what she can get from Inuyasha at the moment, in the end, she knows she's alive and has something Kikyo never will.
