It has long been known that a sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was in the works at Sony Pictures Animation. However, very few details regarding the follow-up to the Oscar-winning film have been made public.

Luckily for Spider-Man fans clammering for some sort of update, Amy Pascal -- one of the key producers on Into the Spider-Verse -- has assured that the sequel is definitely coming and that the development process is well underway.

"We are definitely hard at work on the sequel," Pascal told Gizmodo. "You can expect another movie."

Joaquim Dos Santos is slated to direct the sequel. Santos has served as director on several animated series, including Justice League Unlimited, Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. David Callahamwho helped write Wonder Woman 1984, is set to pen the sequel's script.

Into the Spider-Verse's other producers, Chris Miller and Phil Lord, are making several television programs, including some featuring Spider-Verse characters.

“We are doing some television and all these things have to make sense together,” Pascal explained. “I think we have some fantastic shows that we’re doing and we’re just putting them together now.”

In addition to the sequel and TV spinoffs, a film spinoff -- which will star Spider-Gwen, as well as introduce Silk and the Jessica Drew incarnation of Spider-Woman -- is also reportedly in the works.
