AMC dropped a new teaser for its upcoming adaptation of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire.

The new footage simply consists of a stationary shot of a classic tape player. A hand flicks a button, bringing the crackling audio to life. What sounds to be a vaguely annoyed interview asks the subject, presumably the protagonist Louis de Pointe du Lac, about whether he was always a vampire. A melancholic voice responds that he was a 33-year-old man when he was turned into the monster before the trailer cuts to the series' logo. The latest Interview with the Vampire teaser also confirms that fans can expect the series to premiere in fall 2022.

Despite the show's looming release, very little is known about AMC's version of Rice's beloved book. The show is expected to adopt a similar tone to the 1994 film adaptation of Interview with the Vampire, albeit with a different cast and creative team. Game of Thrones alum Jacob Anderson, who played Grey Worm in HBO's acclaimed fantasy series, is stepping into the role of Louis while Sam Reid is playing Lestat de Lioncourt.

Upon AMC's announcement of the series, executive producer Mark Johnson discussed the excitement and trepidation that comes with building on Rice's seminal story. "The challenge of adapting for television the groundbreaking and immensely compelling work of Anne Rice is both intimidating and exhilarating," Johnson said. "Having previously produced films from such singular works, I recognize both the responsibility and the obligation we owe the material. I strongly believe that with AMC and Rolin Jones we are equipped to meet this challenge and to thrill and entertain both the loyal Anne Rice fan and the viewer who is just now discovering her work."

Originally written in 1976, Interview with the Vampire focuses on Louis de Pointe du Lac, a 200-year-old vampire, as he recounts his life story to an unnamed interviewer. Rice's novel has earned itself the title of a modern classic, boasting almost universally positive reviews from critics; the 1994 film was similarly well-received. Rice, alongside her son Christopher, was originally attached to AMC's Interview with the Vampire series as an executive producer but tragically passed away in December 2021 before the project was completed.

Interview with the Vampire premieres on AMC and AMC+ in fall 2022.
