WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Injustice, now available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray and Digital.

It's open knowledge by now how divisive Zack Snyder's vision has been for the DC Extended Universe, especially in regard to how dark and violent his films could be. However, for the animated films, DC turns one of its goriest property, Injustice, into a movie, and this adaption remixes Snyder's best and worst DCEU moments.

The tribute to the best Snyder moment comes in the finale of Injustice where Mister Terrific brings in another reality's Superman to stop the facist Kal-El. A war breaks out in the desert, smartly taking the Man of Steel finale Snyder crafted away from Metropolis. Snyder handled the action well in Man of Steel, as his General Zod and Superman delivered a thrilling brawl, but it did destroy the city and kill many innocents.

That said, Injustice homages it awesomely with both Supermen punching each other around, going at the speed of light to catch each other, and they flex out in a scary manner that nods to the DC video games. Given the animation, this fight is even more fluid, bombastic and cut-loose.

Sadly, the worst Snyder moment is relived right after by honoring the Lois Lane pregnancy issue from his Justice League cut. When Superman returned to life in that film, as he battered the league in a rage, he spotted Lois, and upon sensing she was pregnant, he calmed down and flew off with her -- at least, that's what has been implied. He then regained his senses and becomes a hero once more, helping stop Steppenwolf.

It felt like a cop-out, even more so than the "Martha!" moment from Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Justice League pregnancy was left-field and not really discussed in the movie aside from some subtle cues, a throw away line in the end of Synder's cut and some interviews with the director himself.

Batman's rebels try to stop Superman's regime in Injustice

Injustice charts a like-minded shock factor sequence when the evil Kal-El is about to murder the good one. Another world's pregnant Lois comes over and tells him her Superman, who died fighting Brainiac, wouldn't be proud. Kal-El drops to his knees and ends his dictatorship in a rushed, cliched scene.

This about-face just doesn't resonate as there are many heroes who could get him to find his humanity within -- such as Wonder Woman, who broke out the regime, and Batman, who lost Nightwing. Even Damian Wayne would have made sense as Superman took him on like a son. However, this Lois is a Hail Mary with forced emotional context that strong-arms him to submit and break down in tears, so as to draw an iota of sympathy via the concept of family.

Injustice is currently available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray and Digital.
