An entire comic series based on a fighting game, it’s no surprise that the pages of Injustice consist of some of the coolest battles in all of the comic multiverse. The war between Superman and Batman spans across the cosmos and manages to rise from a simple Justice League civil war to involving Lantern Corps, Magic users, and even the Gods themselves.

The 5-year run that takes place before the game is filled with an insane amount of battles that most comic readers would only be able to see out of continuity, and the Injustice universe allows us to witness these spectacles woven into one of the best comic storylines of the 2010s.

10 Mr. Mxyzptlk vs Trigon

The Imp of the 5th Dimension vs The King of Hell, these two powerhouses going toe to toe is something we'd never think we'd see. After Batman imprisons Raven, Trigon approaches Superman, thinking he has hurt his daughter. The two begin to fight, but The Spectre steps in, revealing that it was Mr. Mxyzptlk all along.

Turns out, Mxyzptlk had been aiding Superman's cause as The Spectre, and Jim Corrigan had been killed by the dwarf. Mxyzptlk defends Superman by blasting Trigon with energy from the 5th Dimension, and Trigon retaliates with burning Hellfire, which Mxyzptlk freezes. Unfortunately for the reader, the main characters escape and we don't get to see who wins.

9 Superman vs Alfred

Definitely the oddest fight on our list, the Wayne family's trusty butler attacked the Man of Steel way back in Year One of the series. At this time, Superman was not as far along on the dark side and was still trying to reason with Bruce. After stealing the super pill manufactured by LexCorp, Bruce uploaded the contents into the Batcomputer seconds before Superman broke into the cave.

Demanding to know where the information was being transmitted, Superman began breaking Bruce's ribs one by one, not realizing until Bruce informed him that he had resorted to torture. Stunned by how far he had gone, Superman didn't notice Alfred had taken the pill, and the butler headbutted Superman and proceeded to beat the hell out of him

8 Superman vs Darkseid

Working from the shadows, Darkseid mainly stays away from the ongoing developments of Earth, until Superman comes to Apokolips. Superman had already killed Kalibak, Darkseid's son at this point, so it's not surprising what happens next. The Man of Steel found out that Darkseid had been working with the war god Ares against Superman's Regime.

Darkseid refused, as no one is able to command him, so Superman went all out. According to Desaad, the pulling-no-punches battle between the two would destroy the planet and even the Source Wall. With each punch, the world cracks more and more, until Darkseid finally realizes he can either submit or have his whole world die.

7 Superman VS Black Canary

Since Ollie's death in Year One, it's pretty obvious that Black Canary would go one-on-one with Superman eventually, but no one expected it to go this way. Thinking Bruce is flying towards him, Superman takes the Batwing down. Canary comes screaming out of it, driving the Man of Steel to the ground. Having taken a super pill beforehand, Canary is able to go punch for punch with Superman.

She finally takes out a gun and shoots him, a kryptonite bullet sticking out of his chest. Superman falls, and Canary begins to celebrate before things take a turn for the worse. Dinah's contact lenses had recorded the entire fight, revealing to the entire world the tyrant Superman is. Filled with the fear of billions of people on Earth, Superman receives a Sinestro Corps Ring, murders Black Canary, and then uses a construct to take the bullet out of his chest.

6 Superman VS Doomsday VS Bizarro

Two of Superman's worst enemies, created and controlled by his worst enemy. Lex designed Bizarro to take down Superman, we all know the story by now. However, he created a massive battle by sending Bizarro to fight a remote-controlled Doomsday, knowing full well that Superman would come to fight.

Bizarro initially wanted to fight alongside Superman, but due to Superman just hitting anything he deemed dangerous, it turned into a three-way battle, with Lex watching the entire time. Unfortunately, he couldn't bring himself to take down his former friend, and eventually had to use Doomsday to snap Bizarro's neck in order to cover up his tracks.

5 Superman vs Wonder Woman

Despite being on the same side for the entirety of the story, the two allies were forced to fight to the death, in accordance with the rules of Battle on Themyscira. Bruce picks Wonder Woman as his champion against Superman, and the two do not hold back.

Superman is able to get a few good hits on Diana, but she comes back. Refusing to surrender, she digs her fingers into his eyes, breaks his arm, his nose, a few ribs, and is about to deliver the killing blow before they are interrupted.

4 Batman vs Zod vs Amazo

After Tim Drake was killed by General Zod, Batman suited up and was ready to take down the Kryptonian on his own. Batman's mech was a fair match against Zod, but the odds went into his favor when he sprayed Zod with Kryptonian fear gas.

The same gas used by The Joker to make Superman kill Lois Lane. Batman transformed into Zod's worst nightmares, but we didn't get to see the full scope of the fight before Amazo, ordered by Ra's Al Ghul, snapped Zod's neck.

3 Justice League vs Gods of Olympus

The strangest allies Batman uses against the League are easily the Olympians. Each member of Olympus manages to go head to head with a Leaguer, and the results are disastrous. Perhaps the coolest fight is Aquaman vs Poseidon. It would make sense if the God of the Seas defeated the King of Atlantis, but that is not what occurs.

Aquaman manages to strike Poseidon with his trident a significant amount of times, taunting the Earthshaker. He finally ends it while referencing his Supermove from the first game, thrusting his weapon into the god and feeding him to a shark.

2 Superman vs Kalibak

While the fight itself is short, the surrounding context makes this one of the best moments in the entire comic series. At this time, Superman is still the hero we all know and love, about to be honored by Lex Luthor for managing to mediate peace between countries.

Kalibak, Darkseid's son, decides now is the time to invade Earth, and it's a costly mistake. Superman does not hold back on the New God, causing Kalibak to actually be scared of him and begging to surrender. After a slow-motion conversation with Flash, Superman kills every single one of the parademons, and then destroys Kalibak. This signifies one of the first moments in Superman's long journey to become evil.

1 Superman's Allies vs Green Lantern Corps

Year 2 is honestly the best time period in Injustice. It did seem confusing why the Green Lantern Corps wouldn't interfere with Superman's regime, and Year 2 answered that. Introduction of the Green Lantern Corps will obviously follow with the Sinestro Corps allying with Superman, and things definitely take a turn for the worse with our heroes.

John Stewart is killed by Sinestro, Hal turns yellow and kills Guy Gardner, the Corps is wiped out by Superman. Then the devastating blow comes when Superman gets a Yellow Lantern Ring, and flies Mogo, the Lantern that's a literal planet, into the sun.
