Injustice 2: The Atom Uses Science as a Weapon in New Gameplay Footage

Injustice 2’s next fighter is Ray Palmer, the Atom, whose move set is going to be a big deal -- but more frequently a small one -- for the DC Comics-inspired fighting game. The Atom will use his mastery of science and technology to assault his foes with stuns, snares and frequent size changes that will likely make him extremely difficult to hit.

Created by Julius Schwartz, Gardner Fox and Gil Kane, the Atom debuted in Showcase #34 in 1961. The Atom has the power to shrink and grow larger at will, manipulating his weight as he does so. The character is also a scientific genius who used his knowledge of physics to become a self-made superhero.

The gameplay video reveals that the Atom will be able to change sizes on the fly and teleport. He’ll also be able to freeze enemies on the spot, giving him time to mix a flammable chemical concoction that pops an enemy into the air upon combustion. The Atom’s finishing move sees him turn incredibly small before growing to a massive size and crushing his foe into the ground.

Developed by NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Android and iOS. The Atom will be part of the game's Fighter Pack 3 DLC, which will also include the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Enchantress.
