Injustice 2 Shows Off Robin Gameplay in New Trailer

After a long time with no "Injustice 2" announcements, NetherRealm Studios gifted the world with a trailer teasing the some character returns and a few new additions. The new story trailer brought Brainiac into the mix, as well as Poison Ivy. It also featured a heart-rending battle between Batman and Robin. Any conflict between the dynamic duo is tragic, but this fight was given an extra dimension of angst by the reveal that Damian Wayne was under the domino mask.

Robin was one of the most obvious missing characters in the first Injustice. The roster is already pretty heavy on Gotham City vigilantes and criminals, and even included Nightwing, but not the boy wonder. In this trailer we see Damian enter the fray telling Batman, "I'm your only son old man." Batman isn't ready to forgive the events of the "Injustice" comic, retorting "Dick was my son too!" Then they throw down in pure, over the top "Injustice" style.

Damian's fighting style is unique among the Robins. He's the only boy wonder to fight with a deadly weapon, in this case an expertly wielded sword. Most of his moves use the sword, and he uses it to pull some pretty dirty tricks. He looks to be a fast character, one of the fast we've seen in the sequel so far. He also uses smoke bombs and batarangs, which gives him access to some timed teleportation moves.

The trailer also includes his super move. It's not as mindbendingly insane as punching someone to into the sun and back, but it's sufficiently brutal. This version of Damian definitely leans heavily on his League of Shadows training, and fills the role of the game's resident ninja assassin.
