Video game developer NetherRealm Studios has released a 13-minute gameplay trailer for its upcoming DC Comics superhero-themed fighting game “Injustice 2.” The video footage features the Justice Leaguer known as Black Canary going up against the likes of Supergirl, Batman, Deadshot and Blue Beetle in full matches.

In addition to showing off Black Canary’s mobility and power to chain combos, we get to see several of her special moves that incorporate her defining Canary Cry ability. The heroine’s Canary Cry is used in combat to stun opponents and as a special attack that drives the attacker into the ground from above.

“Injustice 2” is the follow-up to the 2013 “Injustice: Gods Among Us,” also developed by NetherRealm Studios. The game imagined a world ruled by a grief-stricken Superman who was tricked by the Joker into killing his love, Lois Lane, and leveling the city of Metropolis. The Man of Steel becomes a uncaring tyrant, only to be challenged by a team of heroes and villains assembled by Batman.

A prequel comic book by the same name was announced prior to the game’s release at the EB Games Expo in 2012 by Ed Boon, NetherRealm Studios head creative director and co-creator of the “Mortal Kombat” franchise. The comic book adaptation details the five years that led up to Superman’s dark turn. “Injustice 2” looks to continue the storyline from where the “Injustice: Gods Among Us” video game left off.
