Half of the entire universe is under direct threat from extinction. Doctor Strange is being tortured by a member of the Black Order; an army of Outriders is laying siege to Wakanda. In short, Thanos is kicking down doors left and right, threatening the lives of every Marvel character he comes across.

That's just a taste of the dire circumstances we've seen unfold in the newest Avengers: Infinity War trailer. The ensemble movie looks to be Marvel's grimmest and most serious film yet, which is as it should be, considering the stakes. After all, the movie is the pinnacle of ten years of build up, the first chapter of a two-part conclusion to a story that has been established over 18 movies.

But fear not, True Believers, because this is still a Marvel movie which, beyond their amazing superhero action, crossovers and intricate character work, are also known for their wit and humor. Avengers: Infinity War may end up featuring a little less humor than the average Marvel offering, but the new trailer shows that some characters will still find a bit of time to crack a joke or two. And, as you might expect, it looks like much of the humor will mainly be found in the long-awaited team-up between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

One of the key scenes in the new trailer is sure to become a fan-favorite: the first encounter between Tony Stark and Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. It's a brief exchange, and one that will likely prove to be an indicator of what the dynamic between the Avengers and the Guardians will be in the film. Instantly, we see that there will be a bit of an ego contest between the leaders of both teams. True to his previous appearances, Star-Lord believes his to be the better plan, and he has no qualms with saying it outright.

This fun exchange between the team leaders gives us a taste of what we can expect from members of both teams interacting together. But while there will be some fun disagreements when their personalities inevitably clash, our heroes will still have to find a way to work things out and band together. They'd better, at least, if they have any hopes of defeating Thanos.
