Avengers: Infinity War has broken yet another record this weekend, as it's now become the highest-grossing superhero movie of all-time. Thanks to its release this past weekend in China, the film has grossed $1.6 billion worldwide, passing the $1.51 billion mark made by the original Avengers back in 2012.
China's release saw an opening weekend debut of $200 million and saw the second-biggest opening weekend in the country's history, getting past Avengers: Age of Ultron's $156 million debut in 2015. Domestically, the film grossed $61.8 million and surpassed analyst expectations, bringing the global total to $343 million for the weekend. Later this week, it's expected to surpass the gross of 2015's Jurassic World, and is well on its way to reaching $2 billion.
Though Infinity War has been sitting high and mighty on top for the last two and a half weeks, this upcoming Friday will see the release of Fox's action-comedy Deadpool 2. With solid impressions from those who got into early screenings and the first film being so beloved, it may be the film that could dethrone the Earth's Mightiest Heroes from its top spot. Deadpool 2 itself is expected to possibly match the $132 million debut the original film landed in 2016.
