Who's the most intelligent character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Tony Stark or Bruce Banner? Well, according to Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, neither hero gets the top ranking for brains in the MCU as that honor goes to a royal teenager in Wakanda.

In a video for WIRED, the Russo Brothers describe each hero who appears in Infinity War. When Shuri gets her turn, their assessment is succinct and unambiguous: "Shuri is the smartest person in the Marvel universe."

"She is the sister of T’Challa [and] the princess of Wakanda," Joe Russo said. "And she is the brains behind Wakanda’s incredibly advanced technology." This technology is the how audiences first met Shuri, designing weapons and gear for her brother T'Challa in 2017's Black Panther. While Wakanda's wealth and advancement is explained by its access to the fictional metal Vibranium, it's clear it takes a genius like Shuri to properly utilize the resource.

In a universe full of geniuses, however, there's always room to debate who is the absolute smartest. On one hand there's Vision, who contains the entire internet in his head, or Rocket Raccoon, who can quickly piece together weapons of mass destruction from scraps. Of course, neither are human, so they may be disqualified.
