WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Infinite Frontier: Secret Files #4 by Brandon Thomas, Joshua Williamson, Inaki Miranda, Nick Filardi and Tom Napolitano, on sale now.

One of DC's most important new teams, the Totality is essentially DC's answer to Marvel's Illuminati, with its members being made up of heroes and villains alike. Though their exact goals and purpose are unknown, even to the DEO, this issue makes clear that they are committed to maintaining the status quo of the new DC Omniverse. However, their best efforts almost did the exact opposite, causing the two worlds to collide. Fortunately, their leader Martian Manhunter, who caused the incursion, came up with a solution -- twice.

Infinite Frontier: Secret Files #4 opens with two versions of the Totality, one from DC's mainstream earth, Earth-0, and one from Earth-23, the home of Calvin Ellis's Superman. Though their rosters are comprised of the exact same individuals from different Earths, nevertheless they all immediately started fighting each other. All except the two leaders of the Totalities -- Martian Manhunter. As two worlds collide, they both simply float in the middle of the battle inspecting each other.

While their teammates use violence to resolve the situation, the two Martian Manhunters use words instead. Both explain to the other what they were doing. Their situation is so similar that they keep finishing each others' sentences, proving how alike they really are. The two J'onn's tell each other that both teams were in the process of testing an early warning system that detects breaches in time and space. As part of the test, both teams decided to create a breach of their own. Both Totalities opened their breach at the exact same time, leading to the situation that they currently find themselves in.

As they discuss the problem they currently face, the Martian Manhunter of Earth-0 reveals that he does not trust everyone on his Totality, unlike his Earth-23 doppelganger. Suddenly, Earth-23's Superman arrives through the Totality breach. The two teams cannot hide from Calvin Ellis, and they reveal themselves to him. While the Earth-23 Totality tries to explain their existence to Superman, the convictions of the Earth-0 Totality are tested by Martian Manhunter. However, despite these problems, they manage to come up with a patch for their dimensional early warning system.

After the Earth-0 Totality test is finished, the two Manhunters update each other on their own personal dilemmas. For one thing, Vandal Savage of Earth-23 and Calvin Ellis are still fighting. Foreseeing a similar situation being a possible problem on Earth-0, Earth-23 Martian Manhunter shares the information about their Superman encounter in case Earth-0's Superman discovers the Totality. In return, Earth-0 Manhunter gives his counterpart a device that will return the visitors to their own world (depositing Superman far away from them upon arrival).

With this small collision of worlds seemingly averted, the two Manhunters ensure that no other Totalities across the multiverse are attempting the same experiments. Thus they prevent such a collision from happening in other parts of the multiverse, stopping any number of other potential Crisis events from ever occurring. The goals of both teams lie somewhere in preventing any more unwanted alterations to reality. Using what they've learned and applying it to other Earths across the DC Omniverse makes this small mistake a great success for their teams.

The Earth-23 Manhunter hopes that, if everything goes right with their multiversal missions going forward, they will never encounter each other again. Earth-0 Manhunter, of course, questions that hopeful thought, knowing full well the unpredictability of the multiverse. The two teams part ways, knowing they will most likely meet the next time that reality comes apart, aware that both versions of the Totality are capable of putting it back together.
