The beginning of DC Comics' Infinite Frontier has certainly brought with it many changes. Green Arrow is now richer than Batman, Wonder Woman is going on adventures through the Sphere of the Gods, Nubia has become Queen of the Amazons while Hippolyta takes up her daughter's place on the Justice League, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Amidst all these fun and exciting changes, dark things stir in the farthest reaches of the new multiverse. A newer Darkseid, more powerful than ever before, has arrived on a new, horrifying version of Earth: Earth Omega.

Earth Omega

While Wonder Woman finished exploring the changes that had resulted from her use of anti-crisis energy, she left the Quintessence to their devices so that she could forge a new path. She was content to believe that the threat she worried about was gone, but the Quintessence had been mistaken in their assessment. They had trapped this new foe on Earth Omega, believing it to be a testament to their power. But what the Quintessence implied about the planet is horrifying, even more so now that Darkseid seems to have total control over it.

Earth Omega, as they put it, is a place of endings. A barren wasteland where no light existed and no possibility of hope. Here, life died. Even gods could die here. So perhaps it wasn't the best place for a group of near deities to convene, especially to gloat about their power. Perhaps even more foolish is the notion of trapping Darkseid on such a world. Even if he wasn't newly empowered, he is still the lord of Apokolips, and as so he thrives in places devoid of hope.

But this may also be why it was so easy for him to escape in the first place. Earth Omega seems to be different from most versions of Earth, being an example of the finite and the inevitability of the end. As Darkseid declared, he now represented the end of all things. And with the Quintessence now out of the way, Earth Omega will most likely serve as the base of operations for whatever twisted endgame Darkseid has in store for the Infinite Frontier.

The thought alone is terrifying. Darkseid has already built Apokolips from the ground up, turning it into the war machine that would fuel his twisted desires. But that was an artificial construct, made to fulfill to his whims. Earth Omega is a fixture in the multiverse, the embodiment of endings. In command of such a planet, Darkseid may end up transforming it into the new heart of evil in the multiverse. He could end up abandoning Apokolips entirely in favor of a planet that is literally pure evil. And if he truly is as powerful as he claims to be, it won't be long before he finds a way to weaponize Earth Omega against the heroes.
