The post-Future State DC Universe will begin in earnest in Infinite Frontier. In March 2021, a wide range of creators including Joshua Williamson, Scott Snyder, Geoff Johns, Becky Cloonan, James Tynion IV, Joelle Jones, Alitha Martinez, John Romita Jr. and others will take DC's flagship titles into a bold new era, along with some new and long-absent familiar faces.

The cover of Infinite Frontier has been unveiled, featuring both classic heroes and brand new characters who will play a part in DC's new history. Now that DC has released a first look at Dan Jurgens and Mikel Janin's cover for the 64-page one-shot, we're taking a closer look at all of the characters who are on it.

DC Generations

Death Metal Speed Metal Flash

Most evidently, this cover includes several superhero legacies that span multiple generations. Batman and his son, Damian Wayne, appear next to each other. Although Damian is no longer Robin, he still works alongside his father as part of the Bat-Family. Superman and his teenage son Jonathan Kent, aka Superboy, also appear together. Two Flashes, Barry Allen and Wally West, are featured side by side. While Wally is not related to Barry by blood, Barry was Wally's mentor before he went from Kid Flash to The Flash.

Most tellingly, the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, also stands alongside John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps. Moreover, Alan's kids, Jade and Obsidian, are hovering next to both Green Lanterns, seemingly confirming their return in Doomsday Clock. Stargirl is a legacy hero as well, considering she began as the second Star-Spangled Kid.

Future State Lives On

Future State Justice League in Dark Crisis.

Before Infinite Frontier #0, DC's next big event, "Future State," will give a glimpse of what's to come in possible futures, and many of this event's characters will seemingly continue on in Infinite Frontier. The cover of Infinite Frontier displays several future characters, including Tim Fox, the next Batman. Tim is also the son of Lucius Fox, CEO of Wayne Enterprises.

Also featured is Nubia, the obscure Amazon hero who is set to join Wonder Woman in a major way in the upcoming Immortal Wonder Woman. The Flash of "Future State" is Jess Chambers, aka Kid Quick. Jess is a genderfluid non-binary speedster from Earth-11, and they'll appear after that event, too. Last but not least is Red X, a character originating in the Teen Titans animated series who will appear in Teen Titans Academy is also featured on the cover.

New Justice League

As of Justice League #59, Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez will take over the title. This new creative team will introduce a new roster, most of whom are on this cover. Founding members such as Superman, Batman and Aquaman all appear, along with the surprising addition of Black Adam. Green Arrow and Black Canary are here as well, with Green Arrow set to lead the new team. Despite their absence from the new roster, classic members Blue Beetle and Booster Gold stand alongside the other heroes. Wonder Woman also looms above everyone else, as a sort of phantom among the stars, teasing her coming encounter with the Spectre.

Titans Together

Teen Titans Future feature

There's a fair number of Teen Titans from several generations on this cover, too. One of the Titans' newer recruits, Crush, is the daughter of Lobo. Crush hasn't worked much with the original Titans, although Teen Titans ended with these heroes opening up Titans Academy.

During "Future State," Crush will appear alongside classic members such as Nightwing, Starfire and Cyborg, in Future State: Teen Titans. If this cover is any indication, It's likely that the Infinite Frontier era will feature more interactions between the old and new Teen Titans.

Multiversal Matters

Kid Quick is not just a "Future State" character, they're also from another Earth entirely. Indeed, Jesse is part of Teen Justice, Earth-11's Teen Justice, who first appeared in DC's Merry Multiverse #1, by Ivan Cohen and Eleonora Carlini. Another multiversal hero on this cover is Calvin Ellis, aka President Superman. Hailing from Earth-23, Ellis was a big part of Multiversity, a story that focused on heroes from across the multiverse. With both Kid Quick and President Superman, it's likely Multiversity's ideas are here to stay.

Bat-Family Forever

Many of Batman's family of heroes are presented on this cover, including the obvious father-son pairing of Bruce and Damian. Additionally, Tim Fox stands behind his predecessor, as the Next Batman. Nightwing, Batman's original partner stands in the background. The Red Hood, Batman's second Robin, is featured next to the Bat-Family's other anti-hero, Catwoman. In front of everyone stands Harley Quinn, who has just recently become part of the Bat-Family. Even so, most of these heroes are hesitant to associate with her at the moment.

But whether they're recent converts to heroism, new heroes or DC iconis, all of the heroes on this cover are set to play vital roles in Infinite Frontier.
