The highly anticipated upcoming Indiana Jones video game is rumored to be an Xbox exclusive.According to notable leaker Nick "Shpeshal Nick" Baker, Machine Games' Indiana Jones project will skip Sony's PlayStation and head exclusively to Microsoft's Xbox platforms. Baker doesn't cite his sources, stating that the report will be discussed in an upcoming episode of Rumor Mill, his podcast dedicated to discussing rumors in the video game industry.Related: Indiana Jones Can Introduce a Younger Audience to Adventure Games

Baker has earned a reputation for his accurate reports regarding video game leaks and rumors. He correctly predicted the reveal and launch of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut as well as the reveal of God of War: Ragnarok during Sony's latest PlayStation press conference. Baker has also correctly predicted a lineup of PlayStation Plus games in the past and most recently discussed the possibility of a new Sly Cooper game.

This isn't the first we've heard of Indiana Jones potentially being an Xbox exclusive game. The development studio, Machine Games, is owned by Bethesda Softworks which was acquired by Microsoft in 2020. Given that the game is still in the very early stages of development, it's possible that Microsoft may limit the game's release to its own platforms. This could mean that Indiana Jones launches as an Xbox console exclusive but will also be available on PC.

Little is currently known about Indiana Jones beyond the fact that the project is a collaboration between Machine Games and Lucasfilm Games, who confirmed that the game is an "original, standalone tale set at the height of the career of the famed adventurer." The brief teaser trailer released provided few hints as to what fans can expect but the footage revealed a map of the Vatican City and the year 1937, suggesting a possible setting for the game.

While Lucasfilm Games' Indiana Jones project may be an Xbox exclusive, that doesn't mean it isn't also throwing Sony a bone. Revealed during the latest PlayStation Showcase live stream, Lucasfilm Games is working alongside Aspyr Media and Sony Interactive Entertainment to develop Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. The title is confirmed to launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PC, suggesting that it may eventually make its way to Xbox.

Microsoft and Bethesda have yet to reveal a release date for Indiana Jones, only specifying it will be a while before anything new is revealed.
