Bethesda Softworks dropped an ominous teaser for a video game based on the Indiana Jones franchise.

"A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, [MachineGames], and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with [Lucasfilm Games]," Bethesda tweeted. The Indiana Jones franchise launched in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, which centers on Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones Jr. -- an archaeology professor who attempts to recover the Ark of the Covenant in the 1930s while fending off Nazis. Featuring Harrison Ford in the lead role, the film was followed three years later by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, five years after that by Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and 19 years after that by Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There's also a yet-to-be-titled fifth installment in the works, which is expected to release in 2022 with Ford reprising his role one final time.

Outside of the films, Indiana Jones has found success in the form of the television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which ran from 1992-1993, as well as books, comics, toys, theme park rides and even a handful of other previously released video games.
