Spider-Man screenwriter David Koepp is back on Indiana Jones 5.

Asked about his time on Indiana Jones 5, Koepp told Den of Geek, "I actually am again. I’m working on it again. We’re still trying. And I think we’ve got a good idea this time. We’ll see."

Koepp was replaced in June by Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jonathan Kasdan. In July, the project was moved back a year from its earlier announced release date of July 10, 2020 to July 9, 2021. The delays reportedly came from key members of the production not being satisfied with the script from Koepp, the original screenwriter. Nevertheless, it looks like Koepp has returned to the franchise.

Over the course of his career, Koepp has penned Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. He also wrote Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the fourth installment in the film franchise.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull introduced Indiana Jones' son Mutt and teased that he would take after his father, but that no longer seems to be the case. It is unknown what kind of direction any future film in the Indiana Jones franchise could take.

Starring Harrison Ford, the as-yet untitled Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to release on July 9, 2021.
