Logan and Ford v. Ferrari filmmaker James Mangold, who is directing the upcoming Indiana Jones 5, has spoken out against Georgia's new voting law.

SB 202, a 98-page omnibus bill, was passed after Georgia governor Brian Kemp signed the law on March 25. Responding to the news on Twitter, Mangold announced he is boycotting movie productions in the state, saying "I will not direct a film in Georgia."

Per Georgia's new election law, voters over 65, with a disability, in the military or who live overseas can still apply for a mail-in ballot. However, the earliest they can do so is 11 weeks before an election, instead of 180 days. Counties in Georgia will also begin sending out absentee ballots three weeks later than before, starting four weeks prior to the election. Mail-in ballots will similarly need to comply with the new rules for confirming voters' identities and verifying the information they present is accurate.

Other changes made by the bill include the elimination of mobile polling sites in Fulton County. Counties must also provide two Saturdays for early voting access, with both Sundays optional. Certain metropolitan counties were already offering early voting on all four days available, so this won't affect the process in those areas.

Another rule prohibits anyone except poll workers from giving water to voters waiting in line and prevents anyone from handing out food and water to voters within 150 feet of a polling building, inside a polling location or within 25 feet of voters standing in line. Voting runoffs will also now begin "as soon as possible" after a general election and require in-person early voting Monday through Friday prior to the election. This may prevent counties from allowing weekend early voting if they're unable to complete the initial election and prepare for the second in the allotted time.

Lucasfilm announced the untitled Indiana Jones 5 in March 2016, with Harrison Ford reprising his famous role as the eponymous archaeologist and Steven Spielberg directing for a July 2019 release date. However, the film has been delayed multiple times since then, with Spielberg stepping down to serve as an executive producer only. Mangold reportedly took over as director in Feb. 2020, prior to Disney confirming the project at the 2020 Disney Investor Day presentation. During the event, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed Indiana Jones 5 will "conclude this iconic character's journey."

Directed and written by James Mangold and starring Harrison Ford, the currently untitled fifth Indiana Jones film is set to be released on July 29, 2022.
