After the first Indiana Jones 5 footage was revealed at D23, Harrison Ford appeared weeping on stage while confirming the film is "fantastic."Disney's D23 Expo revealed the first footage of Indiana Jones 5 exclusively to those in attendance of the celebration. Following the footage, Ford got on stage to speak about the film. Posted to Twitter by IGN, a video clip of Ford sees him getting choked up while speaking about what fans can expect from Indiana Jones 5. "Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure, but they're also about heart," he said. Directed by Logan's James Mangold, Indiana Jones 5 will also star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann and more. The upcoming film was initially announced in 2016 but didn't begin production until June 2021 due to multiple delays.

Holbrook previously said of Mangold's involvement with Indiana Jones 5, "You know, just look at his work: Ford v Ferrari, it’s gonna be fast, it’s gonna be badass, and it’s gonna have heart. All of his films have this emotional beat in them, but we’ve got this grand scale of Indiana Jones," the actor explained. "The guy just can’t make a bad movie. He is so precise in what he does." Holbrook also previously spoke on Ford returning to the role of Indiana Jones for the fifth time. "Harrison Ford is ripping and roaring," he said. "Age ain’t nothing but a number to this man."

Ford's Return to an Iconic Role

Ford first stepped into the role of Indiana Jones in 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, directed by Steven Spielberg. He returned for three sequels, including 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Cyrstal Skull, all of which were directed by Spielberg. Spielberg initially planned on directing Indiana Jones 5 but stepped down in 2020. He remains attached as an executive producer to the film. Composer John Williams, who scored the first four Indiana Jones movies, will also provide a score for Indiana Jones 5.

Indiana Jones 5 arrives in theaters on June 30, 2023.
