Antonio Banderas has reportedly joined the cast of Indiana Jones 5.

According to Deadline, Banderas has closed a deal to star opposite Harrison Ford in the next installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, joining the already star-studded cast. That being said, specifics regarding Banderas' role are being kept under wraps.

A veteran actor, Banderas is known for his roles in such films as Desperado, Philadelphia, Assassins, Interview with the Vampire and the Spy Kids franchise. His role as Salvador Mallo in the 2019 film Pain and Glory earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Indiana Jones 5 marks the first film in the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg, who has led the series since 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark. Instead, Spielberg handed over directorial duties to James Mangold, who is known for his work on Logan and Ford v Ferrari, among other films.
