Twenty years ago it looked as if Dr. Brackish Okun had perished at the hands (or the tentacles) of an alien in "Independence Day," yet the trailers for "Independence Day: Resurgence" reveal he plays role in the upcoming sequel.

In this new video, "Earth Space Defense: Heroes of '96," we're given a bit of the backstory of "Einstein with a mood ring," who's spent the past 20 years in a coma following the attack. Like the rest of us, the video's narrator holds out hope that Okun will awake when the Earth needs a hero once again.
