The Incredibles is a beloved Pixar film that shows how being a family can be difficult but being a family of superheroes is even more challenging. However, it's become an instant classic among fans because the story is kept grounded and has tons of heart. Another iconic aspect of the film is its villain, Syndrome. While he's undoubtedly an enemy, one theory believes that if he had succeeded in his plan, Syndrome could have been a real hero.

In the film, Syndrome first appears as a young boy aspiring to be Mr. Incredible's sidekick, Incredi-boy. But on his first night out, he's more destructive than helpful and upsets Mr. Incredible. So, rather than realize he wasn't cut out to be a hero, he decides the only real path left for him is revenge. For decades, he formulated a plan that involved eradicating real superheroes and outfitting his own versions of supers so that everyone could have powers. And had this scheme come to fruition, Reddit theorist PapaBigMac believes that Syndrome could have singlehandedly saved the world.

While the theory itself takes a relaxed approach, commenting on how the world missed out on having superpowers available at any point, the foundation of the theory presents many ideas that show Syndrome could have actually changed humanity for the better based on his primary goal. To Syndrome, he believed that if everyone were super, no one would be. This was his jab at his former idol because he would take the "power" away from his hero by not making him special anymore. While it's him projecting his anger and inability to cope with his rejection, he could have inadvertently changed the advancement of human technology forever.

As the world advanced without superheroes, the timeline continued much like the real world. No one was making a death ray, nor were they gaining powers through unexplained means. In short, it lets the world grow at an average pace but keeps technological advancements moving at a snail's pace. If Syndrome had outfitted the world with abilities, engineers and scientists, people would be able to understand and retrofit their technology to make things even better and easier to deal with in daily life. While this could also lead to potentially more villains, Syndrome's ability to oversee who has powers could bottleneck that possibility. However, it also means he could allow villains to appear at any time.

Nevertheless, in a world where everyone is super and has power, society could focus on growth because they now have the power to overcome any obstacle. Internally, their abilities could even boost their mental health and confidence, meaning that, when there's no time for worry and sadness, there's time for growth and change. Ultimately, Syndrome could have created another renaissance that would move the planet to a brighter future.

Syndrome's actions prove that if villains could handle their issues constructively, their minds would be able to benefit humanity and help the species grow and even give back to the Earth. That said, his selfish tendencies and desire for revenge eventually led to his downfall and revealed that tragedy in his plan. Had Syndrome gotten out of his own shadow, he could have been a better her than his idol and literally changed the world.
