Writer-producer Brad Bird previously said of the “Incredibles” sequel, “It’s very actively moving, and we’re excited about it…[We’re] trying to take it in some new directions,” noting, “Hopefully it’s the same characters and feel, but going in a new direction…I mean, that’s the trick with a sequel. It’s repeating yourself, without repeating yourself.”

The film was originally set to open in the same year as “Captain Marvel,” “Shazam,” the “Justice League” sequel, and the fourth “Avengers” movie, but it will now release the same summer as genre heavyweights “Avengers: Infinity War,” the Han Solo “Star Wars” anthology film, “Ant-Man & The Wasp,” “Aquaman” and “Alita: Battle Angel.”
