Following the lifting of the review embargo on Monday, Rotten Tomatoes has revealed its coveted Tomatometer score for Pixar's long-awaited Incredibles 2.

The animated film now stands at 96 percent among critics, based on 54 reviews. The audience score is even higher, with 99 percent of movie-goers wanting to see the film. By comparison, the 2004 original has a 97 percent rating on the Tomatometer.

REVIEW: Incredibles 2 is a Warm and Heartfelt Family Reunion

Some diehard Pixar fans may wonder what gives with the missing four percent, seeing how Pixar films have the potential to garner 100 percent fresh ratings, as we saw with Toy Story 3. The consensus review for Incredibles 2 highlights how the film is indeed great, but not quite as good as the first.

Still, Incredibles 2 is on track to earn $140 million this weekend in its North American debut. The original earned $70.5 million domestically in its opening bow in 2004, on its way to a worldwide total of $633 million. The Incredibles went on to win Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Sound Editing.

Written and directed once again by Brad Bird, Incredibles 2 stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Sophia Bush, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Isabella Rossellini and Brad Bird. The film opens Friday nationwide.
