It has taken almost a decade and a half for Brad Bird and Pixar to finally follow up their superhero family classic The Incredibles, which introduced us to the super-powered crime-fighting duo Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl 15 years after their heyday. By the time of the 2004 film, they had settled down together and had three powered kids. Due to Supers being outlawed, though, the family was forced to live as civilians in something akin to a witness relocation program.

Now, we won’t hold it against you if you don’t remember exactly who is who and which powers they have. While The Parrs are definitely reminiscent of the Fantastic Four, the power sets are swapped or entirely different. Below, we will give you a quick refresher on the Parr clan, their allies, the baddies they keep in check and the newly introduced Wannabe Supers. Amazingly, almost all the actors that voiced the main characters in the original are back for Incredibles 2, so we will also highlight the cast.

The Parr Family

Bob Parr, aka Mr. Incredible

Mr. Parr is a Superman analogue. He possesses superhuman strength, near invulnerability and even an ability similar to Peter Parker’s Spidey Sense, called Danger Sense. In the first film, Bob is 40 years-old, overweight and has been reduced to working as an insurance salesman in the suburbs -- that is, until he is summoned for a secret mission. In Incredibles 2, Bob has become a stay-at-home dad so that his wife Helen can once again fight crime and sway public opinion back in favor of Supers. Bob Parr is voiced by Craig T. Nelson.

Helen Parr, aka Elastigirl

Helen’s main power is being a super mom, but her special capability is being able stretch her body like Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four. In the first film, she misses the action of being a Super, but is content with her happy and healthy family. However, in the new film, Elastigirl has been asked to come out of retirement to help change the public perception about Supers. Helen Parr is voiced by Holly Hunter.

Dashiell “Dash” Parr

Dash is Bob and Helen's 10-year-old son. His power is super speed, much like the Flash or Quicksilver. He is overconfident and full of energy. In the initial movie, he doesn’t understand why he and his family have to keep their powers secret and sees it as unfair that he can’t compete in sports at school. It doesn’t look like much has changed in Incredibles 2. Dash is voiced by Huck Milner, who is the only actor in the Parr family that is not a returning cast member.

Violet Parr

Violet is the eldest Parr child. Her powers include invisibility and force field projection, similar to Invisible Woman's power set from Fantastic Four. In The Incredibles, she was a shy teenager, who was unsure of herself and her powers. In the new film, she is going through puberty while having to help her dad take care of the household. She has also started to master her force field abilities. Violet is voiced by Sarah Vowell.

Jack-Jack Parr

While Jack-Jack is the baby of the family, he may be the most powerful Super ever. At the end of the last film, it was revealed he had multiple powers and zero control over any of them. In Incredibles 2, he has been shown to have powers like laser vision, teleportation, shapeshifting (into a gremlin-like creature), electrokinesis and self-combustion like the Human Torch. In terms of the Fantastic Four comparison, he is similar to Franklin Richards. Jack-Jack is voiced by Eli Fucile.

The Incredibles' Allies

Lucius Best, aka Frozone

Lucius is Bob Parr’s best friend. He was a Super in the Golden Age of Superheroics like Bob and Helen and has known the couple since this era. His powers are similar to Iceman from the Marvel Universe. He has a wife who doesn’t approve of any of his and Bob’s Super shenanigans. In the new film, Lucius is the one who introduces Bob and Helen to a tycoon who wants to make Supers popular and legal again. Frozone is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson.

Edna “E” Mode

Edna is a fashion designer and genius inventor. She created Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl’s super-suits and is also good friends with the couple. In the first movie, she came out of retirement to fix Bob’s damaged suit and consequently designed new matching gear for the whole family. In Incredibles 2, she gives Bob advice on parenting but expresses that she is not a “baby person” when he brings Jack-Jack to her residence. Brad Bird not only directs this film, but is the voice of Edna Mode.

Rick Dicker

Rick is an NSA agent. However, in this case, NSA stands for National Super Agency. Agent Dicker heads up the Super Relocation Program and is responsible for the Parr family. Having had to relocate the Parrs multiple times, he is forced to cut them loose from the program in the first film. Dicker is voiced by Jonathan Banks in Incredibles 2.

Winston & Evelyn Deavor

These wealthy siblings are new characters who will be introduced in Incredibles 2. Having inherited their father’s world-class telecommunications company, this brother and sister duo want to use the corporation’s assets to bring Supers back and overturn the ruling that outlaws them. Winston is the business-minded sibling voiced by Bob Odenkirk, while tech genius Evelyn is brought to life by Catherine Keener.

The Ambassador

So far, all we know about the Ambassador is that she is a foreign dignitary who is an ambassador to the US. Further, she is pro-Super like the Deavors. The Ambassador is voiced by Isabella Rossellini.

The Villains

The Underminer

This Underminer is the same villain that showed up at the end of The Incredibles. He is clearly based on Moleman from the Marvel Universe and is yet another Fantastic Four parallel. Incredibles 2 will pick up where the last film left off, and the Parr family are likely to make short work of the Underminer right at the start of the film. This villain is voiced by John Ratzenberger.

Screenslaver

This supervillain is the threat that Elastigirl must stop in the new film. He employs hypnotism and it appears he can take control electronics (namely computers, TVs and mobile phones).

The Wannabe Supers

Screech

In Incredibles 2, we find out there is a squad of inferior Supers that are referred to as the Wannabes. This group has teamed up with the Deavors to try and bring Supers back into the spotlight and -- in turn -- win public support. Screech has the appearance of the villainous Owl from the Marvel Universe and the sonic-scream of Black Canary from the DC Universe. Somehow, his head can also rotate 360 degrees.

He-Lectrix

This sullen Super has electricity powers similar to Electro from the Marvel Universe, though his look seems to be inspired by Striker from Avengers Academy.

Reflux

This hero is a senior citizen who has the ability to spew lava. He apparently uses his “gift” to break into super secure locales. His power is a slightly different take on Zeitgiest’s acid-puking, which was recently featured in Deadpool 2.

Brick

This mega strong heroine not only resembles a brick wall but is as tough as one. Her strength and even aspects of her appearance are similar to the Green Arrow villain of the same name.

Krushauer

This Super is not only a mammoth of a man but he is also a powerful telekinetic. We’re not quite sure why he has a “C” on his suit, considering his name starts with a “K.” It may just be because his name was initially Crushauer in early stages of development.

Voyd

This teenage superhero is an Elastigirl super fan, not unlike Buddy "Syndrome" Pine in the first film. Her power is the ability to access voids. This may be similar to how Jack-Jack enters other dimensions. Voyd is voiced by Sophia Bush.

Written and directed once again by Brad Bird, Incredibles 2 stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Sophia Bush, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Isabella Rossellini and Brad Bird. The film opens Friday nationwide.
