In Brightest Day: “Green Lantern” To Get The 007 Treatment

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is negotiating with Martin Campbell to direct the live-action version of the Emerald Knight’s adventures. Campbell last directed “Casino Royale” and recently wrapped the Mel Gibson starrer “Edge of Darkness,” based on the 1985 BBC miniseries that Campbell helmed.

This is now DC’s front runner for the cineplexes, given the lack of solid information on a “Dark Knight” follow up from the Nolan brothers and the “Superman” and “Justice League” franchises essentially stillborn. Greg Berlanti wrote the script with his “Eli Stone” partner Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Donald DeLine will produce with Berlanti. Berlanti had once been considered to direct. Instead, WB has attached him to direct “This Is Where I Leave You,” the upcoming Jonathan Tropper novel which will be adapted by the author.

The Variety article also notes that Warner Bros. is warming up to “Jonah Hex,” which begins filming in April, directed by Jimmy Heyward and featuring “W” star Josh Brolin in the lead role as the disfigured gunslinger.

No dates were given for a time when cameras would be rolling, nor when the proposed project would find its way to theaters.
