Just as DC has the Justice League, Marvel has the Avengers, a team of superheroes dedicated to protecting the world from some of the biggest threats it has ever seen. Over the course of five decades, the Avengers team has seen members come and go and has also branched off into a few different teams as well. Even still, the goal remains the same -- to save the world from anyone or anything that dares to threaten its safety. Almost any Marvel character you could think of has been part of the Avengers at one point in their career, even if only for a brief tenure. However, once a hero wears the signature 'A,' they are an official Avenger. From Spider-Man to Ghost Rider, there have been plenty of heroes you might not expect that have been part of this long-lasting team of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Since the Avengers have had such a long legacy that has included almost every Marvel hero that anyone has heard of, there are plenty of opportunities to do some great Avengers cosplays. In fact, people have been creating some truly fantastic cosplays of Avengers characters for years, hitting up conventions dressed as their favorite Marvel heroes. In some cases, they even dress up as the villains. Either way, the cosplays are truly impressive. Most people might consider it impossible to accurately cosplay a member of the Avengers team, but with a lot of hard work, inspiration, and ingenuity, these cosplayers made it happen. Their efforts and talent truly paid off and resulted in these 25 seemingly impossible Avengers cosplays.

25 DAREDEVIL

daredevil-cosplay

This Daredevil cosplay by cleytonalves is a pitch perfect recreation of his classic comic book appearance. Everything from the bright red suit to the double D on the chest and even the scowling facemask are constructed with an excellent level of detail.

It just goes to show that even though a lot of the Marvel television shows and movies have tried to modernize or otherwise make superhero suits more realistic, there is still a place for the more traditional looks like this one.

24 GHOST RIDER

Some people might think that a Ghost Rider cosplay would be completely impossible to pull off. After all, how do you simulate the look of the flaming skull without creating a huge fire hazard? Well, turns out there is a way to make a Ghost Rider cosplay work.

This cosplay from Elijah Akiboye captures the Danny Ketch look of Ghost Rider, complete with the blue flames and accents. This cosplay displays a great amount of effort, as well as attention to detail, particularly in the armor plating.

23 CAPTAIN AMERICA

captain-america-cosplay

Captain America has worn many different costumes over the years, from his more practical and classic World War II look to his streamlined, brightly colored Avengers suit. However, Captain America looks his best when those looks meet somewhere in the middle.

That's exactly what this Captain America cosplay from wbmstr does. It lands closest to Captain America's costume from Age of Ultron, where the red, white and blue accents remained, but it was combined with some of the more old-school elements like brown boots and shoulder straps. 22 SQUIRREL GIRL

squirrel-girl-cosplay

Squirrel Girl may not be the most popular Avenger out there, but she was part of the team. While she is not always taken seriously, Squirrel Girl has proven time and time again that if anything, she's at least good for morale. On top of that, she's a kind, energetic person who cares about doing the right thing and being a hero.

This Squirrel Girl cosplay by Lokiloo Cosplay captures everything that makes the squirrel-themed hero great: her spunkiness, confidence, and above all else, the bushy tail and squirrel ears. (Photo by MIG Photography World).

21 SENTRY

sentry-cosplay

There are plenty of rare things in this world, but one that most people wouldn't expect to see in their lifetimes is a Sentry cosplay. After all, Sentry isn't exactly an A-list Marvel character, but this unknown cosplayer took it upon himself to bring the character to life.

You have all the elements that make Sentry recognizable: the bright yellow suit, the blue cape, and the great big 'S' on the belt buckle. Throw the long blond hair on top of that, and you've got yourself one surefire Sentry cosplay. (Photo by David Ngo).

20 ULTRON

ultron-cosplay

Ultron may have been a formidable adversary for the Avengers in Age of Ultron, but he actually started his life as a member of the team at the very beginning as a creation of Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man.

These Ultron and Ultron drone cosplays by Villageshope are unquestionably amazing. Not only do these really look like evil robots, but you also can't even tell that these are just costumes. If you saw these at a convention, you might think your city was about to be flown into the air.

19 LOKI

loki-cosplay

Loki may not be part of the Avengers team, but he has always been a huge part of the Avengers story. After all, he was the very first villain that the superteam faced in the comics, and his legacy has continued into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he became a fan-favorite.

This Loki cosplay by teenageher0 captures everything about Loki's movie look and character perfectly: the hair, the outfit, even his staff with the Mind Stone. Add in a touch of cocky attitude, and you've got a picture perfect Loki.

18 BLACK PANTHER

From the moment he was introduced in Captain America: Civil War, Prince T'Challa was a force to be reckoned with. Fans loved his inclusion in the MCU and thought his look was absolutely perfect on screen. Black Panther went on to be a huge hit for Marvel upon its release, and it inspired some really great cosplays.

This Black Panther cosplay by theblerdvision has all the right elements of the MCU Black Panther look, including the threatening claws and the white eyes. It also includes the brighter silver accents as seen in Civil War. (Photo by Neeko Cosplay).

17 WAR MACHINE

war-machine-cosplay

War Machine is sometimes seen as the understudy for Iron Man -- the suits were both built by Tony Stark, with the War Machine suit being based on an earlier design. However, James Rhodes brings a lot of military training and knowledge to his role as an Avenger.

This War Machine cosplay by an unknown cosplayer has all the bells and whistles you'd expect on a War Machine suit: the lit-up chest, hands, and eyes, the giant shoulder gun, and the black and gray plating. (Photo by Zaptomatic).

16 VISION

vision-cosplay

Vision made his screen debut in Age of Ultron, played by Paul Bettany. If you ever needed any evidence of the MCU playing the long game, all you need to remember is that Bettany was cast as the voice of JARVIS all the way back in 2008's Iron Man

Vision's on-screen appearance was one of the most visually accurate portrayals of a Marvel hero on-screen. He retained all of his visual characteristics, such as his red face, yellow cape, and green suit. This cosplay by TallSquall gets every detail of the MCU Vision right. (Photo by ncvtgirl).

15 SPIDER-MAN

spider-man-cosplay

Spider-Man is not only one of the most classic Marvel characters, but he's also one of the most recognizable superheroes in the history of comic books. His signature red and blue suit with the giant white eyes has become as iconic as Batman's cowl or Superman's red cape.

This Spider-Man cosplay by Jake Moore hits all the right notes of the Webslinger's classic look while combining some of the more contemporary elements from the various Spider-Man films. You have the red and blue tights with the big eyes, but the suit also features the scaly look on the fabric first appearing in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films.  (Photo by Marie Sturges).

14 CAPTAIN MARVEL

captain-marvel-cosplay

Captain Marvel will finally be making her long-awaited entry into the MCU in her upcoming solo film. Fans have been eager to see Carol Danvers in action, and are particularly intrigued by how she will be involved with the events of Infinity War

This Captain Marvel cosplay by jj-dreamworldz recalls Carol's comic book appearance but shows that her suit in the MCU is very similar to this look. The bright colors and the red sash really help this cosplay to pop, and yet the strong resolve of Captain Marvel remains. (Photo by Costographer).

13 THANOS

thanos-cosplay

Thanos is obviously not part of the Avengers, but he is a key part of their history as a superteam. With a single snap of his fingers, he made an impression on the world and cemented himself as the biggest, baddest villain in the MCU.

It would take a lot of work to make a Thanos cosplay and obviously there was a high level of attention, detail, and effort that went into this Thanos cosplay by Hurleyfx. He perfectly captures the impressive stature of the Mad Titan and also gets all the small details of his clothing and face right. (Photo by @annet52).

12 FALCON

falcon-cosplay

Falcon became a member of the Avengers back in 1979. In the comic books, he was often seen in an admittedly silly red and white suit with giant bird wings. As far as costume changes in the MCU go, Falcon's is one of the better ones.

This unknown cosplayer channels the MCU look of Falcon into a truly impressive cosplay, one that incorporates the mechanical wingsuit as well as some of the more tactical aspects of Falcon's look. Even the camo pants are a nice touch. (Photo by Aren Blondahl).

11 SCARLET WITCH

scarlet-witch-cosplay

Scarlet Witch joined the Avengers along with her brother Quicksilver all the way back in 1965. Though her status as an Avenger has had its ups and downs, she has since rejoined as a member of the Avengers Unity Squad.

It's very rare to find a cosplayer who not only nails the costume of their character but also looks exactly like the actor that plays them. That is, however, the case with this Scarlet Witch cosplay by Olya Maloy. Maloy perfectly channels the mysterious and arcane powers of Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff. (Photo by milliganvick).

10 QUICKSILVER

Quicksilver-cosplay

Quicksilver may have only been in the MCU for a brief period of time, but in Marvel comics, he joined the Avengers team very early on. Quicksilver's superhuman speed made him an integral part of the team, and he remains one of the Avengers to this day.

This cosplay by Jonh Martinez recalls Aaron Taylor Johnson's short-lived but memorable portrayal of the mutant speedster in the MCU. There may not be much to this version of Quicksilver's costume, but the hair and the beard absolutely sell the look.

9 ANT-MAN

ant-man-cosplay

Ant-Man was one of the earliest projects in the MCU, despite the fact that it wasn't released until 2015. Nevertheless, it ended up being a fun, comedic, superhero take on the heist genre with the signature Marvel flare. It also introduced a version of Ant-Man who would become the team's comedic relief.

The design of Ant-Man in the MCU owes a little bit to the original comic book design of Hank Pym's suit, but it goes much farther in making the suit look a little less silly and more scientific. This unknown cosplayer got the suit exactly right. You'd almost expect him to start shrinking right in front of you. (Photo by Neville6000).

8 WASP

wasp-cosplay

Wasp made her introduction to the MCU in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but she was fighting with the Avengers long before then in the original 1963 comic debut of the superteam. Janet Van Dyne was an integral part and founding member of the Avengers and has remained a valuable member of the team.

This Wasp cosplay by xemnas is based on the modern look of the Wasp in the comic books. from the Gold plating on the front to the insect-like wings, every part of this Wasp suit is perfect. (Photo by BlizzardTerrak).

7 NICK FURY

nick-fury-cosplay

In the MCU, Nick Fury is instrumental in bringing the Avengers together. Ever since his surprise appearance in the post-credits scene of Iron Man, Samuel L. Jackson has made the character his own. Nick Fury is tough, intelligent, and uncompromising.

This Nick Fury cosplay by Chris Davis captures all the elements of the on-screen Fury: the eyepatch and scars, the black trenchcoat, and even the S.H.I.E.L.D badge. Above all else though, this cosplay has the one thing that is absolutely essential to portraying Nick Fury: attitude. (Photo by Greg Larro).

6 HAWKEYE

hawkeye-cosplay

Hawkeye has always been the joke of the Avengers team. After all, how effective could a guy with a bow and arrow really be when you've got Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk already? Despite his inexplicable inclusion in the team, Clint Barton has become an underdog fan-favorite.

Even though his look in the films is heavily toned down, everybody remembers Hawkeye's classic look in the comics. This cosplay by tarta0823 captures that look perfectly, right down to the purple coloring and the pointy mask.
