Moose has been the self-proclaimed TNA World Heavyweight Champion since the Rebellion event in April, where he defeated Michael Elgin and Hernandez in a triple threat match. However, Mr. Impact Wrestling has now teased the return of a classic TNA Knockouts Championship design.

On Twitter, Moose shared an image of a belt with a white strap and a gold plate. On the original belt, the old TNA logo appeared topped with a crown. However, Moose is actually covering up the plate in the image. Still, this, coupled with the "Good Luck Girls. #TNALIVESAGAIN" caption seems to indicate the TNA Knockouts Championship will get a retro redesign. Moose's tweet was done in response to Impact announcing a #1 Contender Knockouts Gauntlet Match at Slammiversary, which takes place on July 18.

This tweet could mean that Impact is replacing the current design of the Impact Women's Championship with a retro-redesign of the TNA Knockouts Championship -- similar to what WWE did with the retro Intercontinental Championship. This would be a welcome update to the title and would pay homage to the "original" women's revolution and Knockout legends of the past. Slammiversary would be a perfect time to unveil this brand new title as Impact could simply award it to the winner of Jordynne Grace vs. Deonna Purrazzo.

Another possibility is that Moose isn't teasing a title redesign, but rather the return of the TNA Knockouts Championship itself. Much in the same way that Moose declared himself the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, a Knockout Legend could declare herself the new TNA Knockouts Champion at Slammiversary. Gail Kim, Awesome Kong and Mickie James all come to mind as possibilities but perhaps the most likely candidate is already in the #1 Contender Gauntlet Match.

Impact recently announced Madison Rayne was added to the gauntlet match and she would be a perfect candidate to resurrect the TNA Knockouts Championship. Rayne is a former five time champion and was a staple of the Knockouts division through its peak in the early 2010s. She could win the gauntlet match, only to decline the title shot and have Moose declare her the new TNA Knockouts Champion. The TNA rebirth can continue from there. Moose would be able to grow his stable of TNA throwbacks by reintroducing the TNA X Division and TNA Tag Team Championships, creating a similar storyline to the ECW Originals vs New Breed angle from 2006.

Whether this is simply a redesign of the Impact Knockouts championship or the start of something more, the TNA Knockouts Championship will surely be welcomed back to the Impact Zone, especially since it brings with it so many possibilities in terms of nostalgia and storytelling.
