Publisher Ubisoft's new mythological adventure Immortals Fenyx Rising has a limited-time demo now available, with no downloading required.

Immortals Fenyx Rising isn't scheduled for release until December, but Stadia players will get a first look in the game's recently released demo. From now until Oct. 29, gamers can grab a service-compatible controller and start playing the open-world RPG. A subscription to the Stadia service is not even needed -- "Just sign up and play," according to Stadia's website.

Since the demo is available through Stadia, a stream-based service, no downloading or updates are required.

In Immortals Fenyx Rising, players will take on the role of Fenyx, a new winged demigod on a quest to save world from Typhon, the Destroyer of Gods. As the Greek gods’ last hope, Fenyx will wield the powers of the gods to battle powerful enemies and solve ancient puzzles. The open-world adventure will include seven different regions inspired by the Greek gods. Those who preorder the game will be able to obtain the bonus quest A Tale of Fire and Lightning.

The game has some similarities to established franchises God of War and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but seems to offer a surprising amount of depth to combat and open-world activities from first impressions. The mythological tale will be releasing alongside Ubisoft's Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla this holiday.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising was first shown at E3 2019 as Gods & Monsters. It wasn't until 2020's Ubisoft Forward event when the publisher re- revealed the project as Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
