In Future State, Wonder Woman is shown sporting Batman's utility belt and a Kryptonite necklace. This may be to honor her fallen comrades -- although Bruce Wayne has taken on new responsibilities as the Dark Detective and Clark Kent is fighting as a gladiator on Warworld. While details about the other Amazons remain scarce, Brazilian hero Yara Flor will take up the Wonder Woman mantle, as well as Diana's sister Nubia, who has not appeared in the comics since the 1970s.

Future State is a two-month storyline that features future versions of DC's iconic heroes, with several new characters taking up certain heroes' mantles. Michael W. Conrad and Becky Cloonan will write Immortal Wonder Woman, with Bartel providing interior art and covers. Meanwhile, L.L. McKinney will write the Nubia back-up with Alitha Martinez and Mark Morales on art.
