WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Immortal Hulk #45 by Al Ewing, Joe Bennett, Ruy José, Belardino Brabo, Paul Mounts and VC's Cory Petit on sale now.

Immortal Hulk hasn't just wreaked havoc on Bruce Banner's life; the book has also plunged friends and associates into major despair. Betty Ross is back as the monstrous Harpy,  Rick Jones has been controlled by the Leader and is currently in a monstrous merged form and the Arizona reporter, Jackie McGee, can now see into the gamma spiritual realm and possibly setting up a showdown with the One Below All.

It's also brought Henry Gyrich and the U-Foes back out, which resulted in Gamma Flight getting the boot. And in Immortal Hulk #45, things get even worse as a major problem has been unearthed regarding an Alpha Flight legend: Walter Langowski, the hero formerly known as Sasquatch.

Walter debuted in X-Men #120, by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in 1979, where he became Sasquatch after a gamma accident while studying the Hulk. He joined Alpha Flight on missions involving the Green Goliath and became one of the team's most iconic members. Although he's died a few times over the years, Walter was murdered by the new Abomination (General Fortean), and his soul got trapped in the Below Place, where all gamma-powered beings go when they die.

When gamma-powered psychologist Doc Samson was killed too, he found himself unable to escape the Below Place. Since the Green Door that could resurrect him was shut, he used Walter's and emerged in Sasquatch's body. Now called Doc Sasquatch, Samson teamed up with  Shaman to find Samson's body, which was in New Mexico at a Shadow Base site. They believe that it could be the key to finding Walter's life force, which they have no way to track.

But as they scour the base, they found Samson's body missing. However, this issue reveals that it's now occupied by Walter, who is now calling himself Walter Samson. He hitches a ride a couple of miles from there, seemingly without a care in the world. He could think that this might be a shot at a somewhat normal life; one where he doesn't have to turn into a Bigfoot-esque being, but there could be something far more sinister behind that smile.

With that sadistic smile on his face, there's also a chance it's not really Walter in charge of Samson's body. He must have had some help opening Samson's door, which means that he might actually be controlled by the One-Below-All, not unlike Rick Jones.

Considering the number of villains in the hellish Below Place, anyone from the Leader to David Banner could be in control of Samson's body. And if Walter really is in control and wants to keep Samson from retaking his own body, the one-time hero may prove how much of a villain he could be deep down.
