After Bruce Banner was killed at his own request during the events of Civil War II, the undead Avenger came to the realization that the Hulk could not be killed. With this understanding of his abilities, The Immortal Hulk has shown a Bruce Banner who can be killed during the day only to be revived when the Hulk makes his brutal return each night. After expanding his power, the Immortal Hulk revealed his ultimate objective: to destroy the world.

In this quest, the Immortal Hulk has come face to face with old enemies and allies, the usual government agencies that seek to capture him, giant monsters and most importantly, himself. At the hands of Al Ewing and Joe Bennett, this series has mined extensively from the Hulk's past and has re-introduced former versions of the Green Goliath in this new context. With a myriad of Hulk personalities vying for control, we're taking a closer look at which personas stand as the most dangerous to the larger Marvel Universe.

JOE FIXIT

While tough in his own right, Joe Fixit remains at the bottom of the many personas that have made their re-appearance. This version of the Hulk would revert to his human form in sunlight, which allowed Banner to take back control. Realizing this, Fixit moved to Las Vegas, started wearing pinstripe suits and became a mob enforcer.

Although smarter than the average Hulk, Joe’s wealth of knowledge is limited to the skills that he learned in his time in the criminal underworld. When it comes to destroying the world, there is only so much that a gangster from Las Vegas can bring. Additionally, this persona has been unable to access his grey-skinned form and remains in Banner's body for the time being.

BRUCE BANNER

As the originator of all of Hulk's personas, the original Bruce Banner is both dangerous and vulnerable. While he might not have Hulk's strength, Bruce is still extremely intelligent and has served as a member of the Illuminati in the past. Knowing this, it would be unwise for any of the Immortal Hulk's enemies to underestimate his human form in any battle.

At the same time, Bruce is also mentally and emotionally unstable. Outside of dealing with so many strong personalities within his mind, Bruce has often been forced to confront the pain of his childhood. This prevents the scientist from ranking higher, since Bruce will always need the Hulk to protect him on some level.

ROBERT BANNER

Hulk Robert Banner

The recently introduced Robert Banner is a different form of Bruce Banner. While Bruce Banner is limited by his own pain, Robert is a Bruce that needs no Hulk to protect him. He is a Bruce who isn't afraid to take what he wants and to kill anyone that would hurt him. If this version was allowed to run free, it's not clear how much death and destruction he could unleash.

Unfortunately, this persona's origins remain somewhat dubious, and they seem to indicate that he will not remain a large threat. He only really exists thanks to the interference of Xemnu, and it is unclear how powerful Robert is when compared to the other personas of the Hulk. With Xemnu out of the picture, Robert may find his brief stay already over.

SAVAGE HULK

As the original Hulk, this persona has proven his strength on multiple occasions. However, this Hulk is limited by the rage that dominates all of his senses. Although he lacks the intelligence that many of his counterparts hold, the Savage Hulk's role as the original Hulk should not be dismissed so easily.

When any other form of the Hulk takes enough damage, the Savage Hulk is able to easily take control at any moment. For certain Hulks, the Savage Hulk can also take control when in direct sunlight. When Banner's back is truly against the wall, the Savage Hulk will always emerge to prove that he is the strongest there is.

DEVIL HULK

Immortal Hulk feature 1

Also seen as the Immortal Hulk, the Devil Hulk has been leading the charge in this new crusade against the world. Outside of his impressive strength that has managed to stand against the Avengers with relative ease, this Hulk possesses an understanding of the psychology and fears of those around him that allows him to be both cruel and calculating in combat and, in most cases, his vengeance.

Also, living up to his name, this Hulk has been shown to have the ability to recover from any attack. Whether having his face melted, being chopped up into small pieces, or having his heart torn out, there is nothing that can stop the Immortal Hulk from his rampage. With his connection to the One-Below-All, the Devil Hulk promises to only bring more horror to the universe.

WORLDBREAKER HULK

As the protagonist of both Planet Hulk and World War Hulk, this Hulk has conquered an alien planet and defeated the majority of Earth's Mightiest Heroes with relative ease. It took someone as strong as the Sentry to rival the Hulk in his power. Besides breaking worlds, this Hulk is an accomplished leader that once led a civilization.

Within Banner's mind, the Worldbreaker Hulk still holds immense power. As a skilled tactician, this Hulk has spent his time learning about his surroundings, which have given him an extreme advantage over his fellow Hulks. He is the Green Scar and any planet should fear his wrath.

THE BREAKER OF WORLDS

Besides looking at his past, The Immortal Hulk has also looked into the future of the Hulk and has found his most fearsome final form. After the collapse of the current universe, the Hulk is the only thing that remains. Like Galactus, this Hulk is destined to continue his rampage into the next universe on a cosmic scale.

With so little known about this Hulk, it is unclear where his weaknesses lie, if any exist. Should this Hulk ever be unleashed on the Marvel Universe, there will be no escape from his rage and all-consuming power. While other Hulks pose a threat to Earth and other planets, this Hulk will destroy universes.
