Bruce Banner is back, but not for long. Don't worry, though -- while Banner is destined to die again shortly after his "Avengers: No Surrender" return, his jade alter-ego won't allow him to remain dead.

In The Immortal Hulk, Al Ewing and Joe Bennett are crafting a new type of Hulk story, one in which Banner is capable of dying, only to be brought back to life when his corpse transforms into the Hulk after the sun falls.

"Banner can die," Ewing told CBR in our exclusive interview with him and Bennett about their new series. "The Hulk can’t. If you shoot Banner in the head – he’ll fall over dead. He’ll lie there all day, dead as dirt, growing cold, getting stiff… right up until the sun goes down. And then… well, night is the Hulk’s time... And the Hulk remembers."

In the first look at Bennett and inker Run Jose's artwork from Immortal Hulk #1, it appears it on't take the series long to illustrate this new relationship between the two. The preview clearly shows Banner and an innocent bystander being shot in the head, only to have the Hulk take his vengeance on the killer in a later page. Of course, there's still a lot to learn about the series, some of which you can discover in our interview, but most of the mysteries will be revealed when The Immortal Hulk #1 arrives in May.
