Good news: the wait for Marvel Studios' Avengers 4 may have just gotten a little shorter.

While the highly-anticipated film may not have an official title yet, we at least know when it is going to be released -- and it turns out it might be even earlier than we previously believed. Thanks to the IMAX corporation's quarterly SEC filing, the company may have inadvertently revealed that Avengers 4 will be coming in April 2019.

In the document, IMAX has a full list of all of its upcoming films to be released in 2019, from Universal's Glass in January to Star Wars: Episode IX in December. In that list, not only is Marvel's Captain Marvel scheduled for March, as we knew, the untitled Avengers 4 is marked as being released in April.

Currently, Marvel's Avengers 4 has an official release date of May 3, 2019 -- but that may yet change. As fans might recall, prior to the release of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel pulled off a stunt on Twitter with the help of star Robert Downey, Jr. After a brief exchange between the actor and Marvel's social media accounts, a new poster was revealed confirming that the film, which was originally slated for release on May 4, was now hitting theaters a full week early, on April 27.

While such an announcement has not been made for Avengers 4 yet, IMAX's SEC filing seems to hint at the very real possibility that the film will also be coming in late April instead of early May. After all, all the other films on IMAX's list are scheduled for the releases that have been announced -- all except Avengers 4. Since such an important document makes the claim, it's a safe bet that this is no accident or mere oversight.

Marvel has been known to release its films internationally a week earlier than the domestic release date, a trend that was broken with Avengers: Infinity War, which saw a simultaneous global release. The earlier release date not only helped add more fuel to the raging marketing fires of the film, it also helped limit the amount of spoilers divulged prior to the film. Since Avengers 4 is essentially the conclusion to Marvel's 11-year story arc, the studio will more than likely opt to have a similar release schedule.
