The following article contains spoilers for Ms. Marvel Season 1, Episode 6, "No Normal," streaming now on Disney+.

Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani has revealed how Marvel Studios President/Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige reacted to her contradicting Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' reveal that the Marvel Cinematic Universe takes place on Earth-616.

During a recent Q&A on the Marvel Studios subreddit, Vellani told fans that she hasn't had any luck convincing Feige he was wrong about the MCU's location in the multiverse. "[A]fter I said that on the [Ms. Marvel] carpet, I saw Kevin the next day and he just stared at me from afar and gestured 6-1-6 with his fingers and walked away," the Kamala Khan actor wrote. "I think about that every night before bed."

The Doctor Strange sequel revealed that the main MCU takes place on Earth-616, something the Ms. Marvel star has vocally disagreed with since the film's release. "I'd like to say, [the main comic universe is] 616," Vellani said in June. "I don't believe that the MCU is 616, as much as Kevin Feige can make us think that it's 616. It is [Earth-199999]." Vellani later revealed that she makes sure to correct the Marvel Studios president any chance she gets on not just the multiverse subject, but also about any other MCU plot elements she finds unacceptable, such as how Multiverse of Madness "did [Black Bolt] dirty."

Despite Vellani's insubordination against Feige, the actor has made very clear her love of both Marvel comics and the MCU, even when potentially controversial changes are made when adapting the source material. As revealed at the end of Ms. Marvel's finale, Kamala Khan's powers come from a "mutation" in her DNA, making her the MCU's first-ever mutant since Marvel Studios acquired the rights to use the X-Men following the Disney/Fox merger. This change was a major departure from the source material, where Khan's abilities were of Inhuman origin, and has caused some fans to express their disappointment regarding the change.

Vellani came to the defense of the decision to alter Kamala's genetics in her AMA thread. "Don't get me wrong, I love the Inhumans. Black Bolt is my father. But I do think the MCU is in a very different place than the comics were," she wrote. "And so we were actually able to go this way with Kamala, and to be fair, the original intent for the comic character WAS to make her a mutant, so I am over the moon that this is real and we could make it happen. [Executive producer and Ms. Marvel co-creator] Sana Amanat and I were freaking out, every single brain cell exploded when we found out we can do this. I was literally refreshing the [Episode 6] discussion thread on here until someone finallyyyy mentioned it."

Season 1 of Ms. Marvel and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are both available to stream now on Disney+.
