Imagine Entertainment plans to produce a live-action U.S. adaptation of  the popular anime series "Tiger & Bunny."

Announced today at New York Comic Con, the project will be developed in partnership with All Nippon Entertainment Works and Bandai Namco Pictures.

Debuting in 2011, the sci-fi comedy-drama is set in a futuristic city where superheroes are sponsored by companies and their exploits broadcast on a popular television show. The story centers on veteran hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, aka Wild Tiger, who's forced to partner with rookie Barnaby "Bunny" Brooks Jr.

"Tiger & Bunny" has already inspired two feature films in Japan, as well as a one-shot manga, a pair of video games and a stage production.

Imagine's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will produce alongside NEW’s Sandy Climan and Annmarie Bailey, and Bandai Namco's Masayuki Ozaki.
