ORANGE, CA -- 21 December, 2001 Image Comics takes great pride inannouncing the hiring of Eric Stephenson as its new Director of Marketing."Or, as I call it," said VP-Publisher Jim Valentino, "Minister ofPropaganda."
Valentino continued, "Eric is a trusted friend and long-time advisor who hasproven his worth time and again over the last decade. Since coming on boardunannounced two weeks ago, he has sent out more press releases than we¹veissued in the last six months, reporting on the status of the sold out G.I.Joe #2 and announcing the release of the Red Star Hardcover and ViolentMessiahs: Genesis. He immediately started uploading previews for new titlesprior to their release on Image's Website (www.imagecomics.com), wasinstrumental in accommodating Jay Faerber's recent interview on Newsaramaand has in general improved communications between Image and online andprint news services.
"This, to me," Valentino concluded, "is what a director of marketing shouldbe doing."
Stephenson, a veteran of Extreme Studios, former managing editor ofNextPlanetOver.com, co-founder of SpinnerRack.com, and an author/editor inhis own right stated that his mission at Image is to increase awareness ofImage Comics as a top-selling brand by stressing Image's ever-broadeningdiversity. Stephenson also plans to work toward strengthening Image¹s onlineinitiatives, including a complete redesign of the Image Website.
