Crossover #3 will feature one of Image Comics' flagship heroes -- Spawn -- on the cover, as well as nods to its various titles.

The cover, illustrated by Spawn co-creator Todd McFarlane, features the hell-powered antihero kneeling next to Crossover protagonist Ellipses "Ellie" Howell as she reads through several comics. McFarlane has also provided seven variant covers, each one featuring Ellie reading a different Image Comics title.

The comics include an issue of Crossover, surprisingly enough, as well as Spawn #1 and The Walking Dead #1. Other covers include Cyber Force and Shadow Hawk, as well as Nowhere Men. Stadium Comics is selling packages containing all seven variants, with an estimated shipping date of Jan. 13.

Crossover takes place in a world where a massive event ripped through reality, leading to every comic book character entering the "real world." The resulting "crossover" caused death and destruction on an untold scale, with the city of Denver being sealed in a force bubble. Ellie is a clerk at the last comic shop in the world and encounters one of the characters who escaped from the dome.

Spawn has served as a massive influence on Crossover, with a sequence from the early issues getting a nod in the pages of Crossover #2. McFarlane is also quoted in the first issue as saying "Kids Love Chains," which serves as the title of the first story arc.

Crossover #3, by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw, goes on sale Jan. 6 from Image Comics.
